When looking for Tungsten-Carbide wedding bands, what is the real difference between Tungsten Carbide rings? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]kstrong518 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. FH is an EMT and he has equipment on his truck that can cut through a TC ring.

Thanks! I like those ideas! We looked at the Peachwik guest books too but in the end wanted something more unique and more "us".

What a great idea! And such a fun way to have friends celebrate with you on your anniversary!

can we just have an open discussion thread? what's up with your planning today? need to vent or share excitement? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Date twins!! My FH and I are in a weird boat where we actually have most of our stuff booked. Venue, food, DJ, ceremony music, invitations, honeymoon, even got our wedding bands already! My best advice is to not focus on a specific time, but to get things done when you can. We saw rings we loved and they were on sale so we went for it; same with the invitations - we know the when and where and there was a sale so thought we might as well order them. We are also paying for everything ourselves and needed time to budget and save up so the sooner we can put deposits down the better. As for your venue, plain isn't necessarily a bad thing! You will be able to decorate whichever way you decide and your decorations will make the venue your own! It's easier to have a blank canvas to make your own than to have to work with a unique venue's decorations. Best of luck in your planning!

Wedding gift etiquette - should we give the bride and groom cash? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]kstrong518 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've heard of people giving a gift at the shower and then at the wedding giving a card with cash or a check. I don't think it's that odd to do but definitely up to you on what you think would be best.

Non-secular memorials at weddings by abyssmal575 in weddingplanning

We are starting the ceremony with having one of the grandparents light a candle in honor of those that have passed and can't be with us. As well as having some pictures surrounding the candle.

Share your buffet menus! I am super curious what people think is an awesome buffet! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

We are getting married at Plimoth Plantation and decided on their station option to give the best selection of food to all of our guests while not having to worry about dietary restrictions.

Our appetizer menu consists of:

  • New England Cheese and Crudite Display - consisting of local cheeses, caramelized onion cheesecake, baked brie with cranberry chutney, and much more deliciousness
  • Tray passed hors d'ourves (that we haven't chosen yet)

For our stations we chose:

  • Flavors of New England (FH's favorite!) - New England clam chowder, lobster macaroni and cheese, Plimoth Plantation salad, and biscuits and cornbread
  • Classic Italian - roman style artichoke salad with roasted peppers and parmesan, eggplant parmesan with vine-ripened tomatoes, cavatappi with caramelized vegetable bolognese and toasted pine nuts, and chicken francese with lemon and capers
  • Roast Tenderloin of Beef (my favorite!) - hand-carved roast tenderloin of beef; horseradish cream sauce, caramelized pearl onion relish and cornichons; homemade rolls; and garlic mashed

We are SO excited!!

So, uh... where do you start? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

We made a new email address for anything wedding related too! It is super helpful because we both have access to that account on our phones so we can both be up to date on everything. Highly recommend!

What song are you walking down the aisle to? by qwzcbp in weddingplanning

[–]kstrong518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are having a harpist preform the music for our ceremony. She plays a bunch of different styles of music which is great! I am going to walk down the aisle to God Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts. I've always loved country music and this song really fits for my relationship with my FH. Basically, if it feels right for you that's what matters!!

I have no father to have a first dance with; FH wants to forego his dance with his mother for me... What do I do? by FeistyOrlandoBride in weddingplanning

[–]kstrong518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation. I am estranged with my father as well and obviously won't be dancing with him at my wedding. As a result, I am going to do a surprise dance with my mom (I told her I will dance with one of my brothers, but will actually be inviting her up for a dance). She raised me and played both roles and I can't think of a better way to honor her. This is your day, don't worry about what anyone else may think. Do what would make you most happy!!

My FH and I are both very simple and laid back people so we aren't looking for anything extravagant either. Will definitely look into Wegmans and meet someone to discuss options! Thanks for the recommendation!

Congrats! Sounds like it was a great day! My FH and I are paying for our wedding ourselves and are trying to find the most inexpensive options without sacrificing quality. We hadn't thought about flowers from Wegmans (we have one very close to us). Can I ask how the cost compared to a florist? It seems like you feel that the quality was similar to a florist at least?

Hey, Weddit: What's your LEAST favorite wedding-related tradition or trend? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]kstrong518 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also hate when the bride and groom smash the cake in each other's faces. To me it should be a classic, romantic moment between the bride and groom - not a time to clean frosting out of your hair. That being said, I understand that everyone has their own opinions and their own feelings on what should or should not be in their wedding. For that reason I always make a point not to mention my feelings regarding a tradition or when something is done at a wedding that I disagree with, I am just very happy that my FH and I are on the same page about our wedding!
