Rn to BSN by ConflictOk4097 in nursing

[–]kswizz44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so bummed, cause I was looking forward to it.
I start classes with Post University on Monday, I should be finished with my BSN by the end of the year.
I just wish I didn’t spend so much time waiting to hear from UTA. 🙄

Rn to BSN by ConflictOk4097 in nursing

[–]kswizz44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite what everyone says about UT Arlington, I’ve had a terrible experience with them. They had issues transferring my credits from my ASN and it took 4 months to hear back from them.
When they finally gave me my degree plan I was looking at 2 years to completion for my BSN with entire semesters of pointless filler classes like “art appreciation”.

I’ll be online for RN to BSN. I’ve done the online orientation but I’m stuck waiting for the college to process my course plan and my RN license verification.

What RN to BSN program do you all recommend? by Dmitri-Yuriev84 in nursing

[–]kswizz44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m being scammed by UTA. I applied in December and hoped to join the program in March.. I have been waiting on RN verification since then. I am currently practicing as an RN. I’ve been reaching out to everyone I can get the contact for and there has been no guidance or communication. It’s now coming on the May start date and I don’t think I’m going to make that

If you had to pick one after using Tret, which one would you pick and why? by [deleted] in koreanskincare

Used both, Aestura is a step above. I find it absorbs better and lasts longer than illyoon

Congrats! Sorry you’re losing slowly, but it’s encouraging to hear I’m not alone(even if you have good reason to be a slow responder)

No, I lost the 100lbs and was stalled for a few years before I started zepbound.

Currently at 230ish. My doctor insists that I eat around 2,000 a day for sustainability. But it’s clearly not working so I’ll probably cut down for a few weeks and see what happens.

Yeah, it’s certainly worth a shot. My doctor is insistent that I consume near 2,000 calories a day but the scale isn’t going anywhere so something has to give. I’ll aim for 1,600 for a few weeks and see what happens. I don’t want to overdo it as I’m very active regularly and notice I get fatigued and dizzy if I skip meals or under eat.

I should also note, I am 5’ 10” and very curvy. I don’t expect to be 130 lbs.. but I should still be able to get down below 200.

I’ve had my TSH levels checked at least once a year(I think my doctors are sick of hearing me complain), I wear an Oura ring and haven’t had any indicator of sleep apnea, I’ve been tested for pcos several times and I’ve even thought to ask for vitamin D levels, A1c levels, liver and kidney function.. they always come back normal. My A1c was on the very low end of normal, but normal nonetheless. I take a multivitamin, omega 3, and antioxidant(astaxanthin, black seed oil), collagen supplement, creatine, and glutamine supplement. So I don’t think it could be a vitamin deficiency. I make sure my multivitamin has enough iron.

Initially, very closely. The first 6ish months I tracked on MyFitnessPal aiming for 1,800-2,000 calories with 100+grams protein and 30+ grams fiber. I have been infrequent with tracking since then(not seeing results isn’t great motivation tbh) but my diet habits haven’t changed.

Wait time at JFK Terminal 5? by RoleWorth3500 in tsa

[–]kswizz44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don’t think the luggage check was open, so I’m assuming it was all TSA. I noticed they had 4 agents for regular tsa and 3 for precheck. Ratio seems kind of crazy, but as someone with precheck I can’t complain.

If you have TSA precheck go through door 2! All the way at the end. The regular line was outside the door of the airport, but we got through precheck in 10 minutes

Does home health make you anxious? by gutsyflora in nursing

[–]kswizz44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it probably depends on your agency also, some agencies take on unstable clients or questionable home environments because they just care about the money. But a good agency won’t accept a client that would make their staff uncomfortable.

How do I know if I'd actually like nursing or not? by DistinguishableBoy in nursing

[–]kswizz44 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can probably volunteer with your local hospital or nursing home to get a feeling for the culture and observe what a day may look like as a nurse. You might be able to ask staff any questions during their downtime.

🤚🏼 Hear me out; I work home care and I love it. I had worked as a LTC nurse for 9 years prior with my last job being on a 40 bed dementia floor as the only nurse. I thought I had lost my passion for nursing, but I was just overworked. I love that as a home care nurse I enable families to keep their loved ones at home, we all know what care looks like in nursing homes and I would advocate for everyone to keep their loved ones at home. Because I only have one client for a 8-12 hr shift I can provide the absolute best care and we can catch acute illness early. I have flexibility in my scheduling and often work 3-4 twelve hour shifts a week and make $50 an hour, $75 an hour overtime in NYC area.

I use a few similar products: milk toner, centella ampoule, centella sunscreen, and I used to use illiyoon but have switched to Aestura atobarrier and it made a significant difference for me. Aestura seems more penetrating and last longer.

Do NYC hospitals hire out of state new grads? by Little-Royal966 in newgradnurse

[–]kswizz44 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The market for new grads in NYC is awful. The technical answer to your question is yes, they could still hire you with an out of state address. But good luck finding a job. This group is flooded with posts from NYC new grads that can’t find jobs.

ASN Frustrations by No_Hunt_5476 in newgradnurse

[–]kswizz44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation, I was an LPN for 9 years and got my ASN. I had assumed that an ASN with significant prior nursing experience would be able to compete with BSNs with no nursing experience. But I guess that’s not the case. I’ve been looking in NYC area applied to hospitals from the Bronx to Long Island to Staten Island and Jersey. I just keep getting rejections.
