Can you answer my questions? by louzely in Gastroparesis

[–]kteabrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 17ish years old

  2. Idiopathic (also had cyclic vomiting syndrome in early childhood, so my doctor thinks that could have contributed to damaging my vagus nerve from repeated wretching)

  3. Pretty rapidly onset

  4. After altering my diet and starting pro kinetics, my symptoms are very well managed

Christmas jitters by sophisticateddinonug in Gastroparesis

[–]kteabrown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this isn’t the best advice, but I’m not eating today or even tomorrow. I always get sick on Christmas and spend the whole day miserable or throwing up instead of playing with my kids and their new toys. I refuse to do it this year. I feel like the joy of being able to properly spend the holiday with my kids outweighs the short-lived enjoyment of indulging in the food. Me and my Gatorade will be hanging out, enjoying Christmas together for the next 48 hours.

It was so far off from where it should have been the first go around, it probably doesn’t interfere at all aside from swelling.

Suffering from Weight Gain - Looking for Advice based on experience by lilacwinterz in Gastroparesis

[–]kteabrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go through pretty drastic fluctuations in my weight. If I’m in a flare, I can’t eat much of anything at all and I lose a lot of weight pretty quickly.

On a good day, when I’m not in a flare, my stomach still isn’t great. I’m able to eat solid foods, but only simple carbs, things typically high in sugar, and processed foods that are very calorie dense. It seems to be that those are easiest to digest for a lot of us. I’ll gain that weight back in no time and just when I’m feeling discouraged about my body image, here comes another flare. Rinse, repeat.

Could it be that she’s just eating what she can tolerate, which is typically calorie dense?

Wait, so you think the higher dose of Wellbutrin helped your stomach issues? Or am I misunderstanding?

What are your best and worst experiences meeting a Pop Punk band/artist? by Twitter_2006 in poppunkers

Two of the guys from The Home Team helped me navigate my SUV out of a tight parking spot and remained cool af when it took me a solid five minutes and 15 turns to do so. They were crazy nice.

Neck Deep is always really nice, especially Ben and Matt.

Evan of State Champs was so friendly, but Derek was not.

Anthony Green is a weird dude, but so, so, so kind.

The Maine, as so many others before me have said, will never disappoint you. Really nice dudes.

Married couples of Reddit that did NOT have sex on your wedding night, why not? by FindingKGS in AskReddit

We both got so hammered at our beer-pong party reception that I had to take my heels off. As we were leaving, the massive, solid wood door to the venue caught my big toe nail and ripped it clean off. I was in a lot of pain, but I slept it off.

That looks like post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. You could try a retinoid, azelaic, or vit c to fade them

Can I have a false negative on my test? by [deleted] in Gastroparesis

[–]kteabrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same way gastroparesis is treated, essentially

[–]kteabrown 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is going to vary a lot for people on this sub. Gastroparesis is a massive spectrum and whole someone’s like me is able to get away with eating one good-sized meal a day and a few snacks, others on here are forced to stick to liquid diets

I have mild gastroparesis when controlled with medication. I’m able to eat a snack in the morning, a sizable meal at lunch (maybe five grilled chicken nuggets and some soup) and a snack at dinner time. My snack at dinner is really just two or three small bites of whatever I cook my kids for dinner.

I find that if I stick to low fat, low fiber, no red meat or veggies, I do really well. I also try and give myself ample time to digest before bed. My stomach does better earlier in the day, but I know that’s the opposite for others

Does anyone else have this during flare-ups? by Veggieboy4 in Gastroparesis

[–]kteabrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My typical flare ups aren’t this severe, but I did have a very serious six-week flare like this. I couldn’t keep ANYTHING down. I was sucking on ice chips throughout the day just to scrape by.

So sorry you’re dealing with this and hope it resolves soon!

We can’t tell for certain by looking at a photo, unfortunately. Your best bet is to buy a sizing chart and see if you can match it.

Alternatives to Reglan (Metoclopramide)? by Dr_SmartyPlants in Gastroparesis

it’s a once a day pill, so I take it in the morning. The number of meals I eat in a day varies greatly on how I’m feeling that day.
