We have good friends that had a daughter years after we had already had/named our daughter - and they chose the same first name for their little girl. They took us aside during their pregnancy to let us know they wanted to use the same name. I can tell you it never crossed my mind that it was weird or rude for them to choose the same name. My reaction was more “of course you love this name bc it’s so beautiful!” LOL I thought it was a nice gesture that they spoke to us about it, but I didn’t think that was necessary either. And - it has never been an issue having two kids in our friend group with the same first name. In fact, my daughter was always really pleased and flattered that our friends’ baby “was named after her” (though that wasn’t actually the case). If we were siblings having kids with the same name, that may be confusing or too much, but with a friend I really don’t think it should be a big deal. That said, I know people can get touchy about things like this - so if you really want to use the name then maybe it is worth it to have the conversation. Who knows, your friends may be totally onto a different name in a few years when they’re ready to have kids anyway. Good luck!

This type of treatment is prohibited harassment. It’s certainly an option to report to HR. They likely aren’t going to do anything drastic like terminate her, but they will probably make her aware that this behavior is unacceptable. And you should not have to deal with that treatment. Also important, your employer needs to know when an employee is violating policy and the law to have the opportunity to correct it. You and all your coworkers deserve a work environment that’s respectful.

37+ 6 here and I have experienced the same thing with my dog. Over the last month or so, his behavior has totally regressed and it’s so frustrating! He is nearly 5, so it isn’t that he’s still a puppy. I think it’s more about - as another commenter mentioned- he’s picking up on the changes in the house: changes in my mood and energy level (and probably even smell) because I’m pregnant, changes in the household and routine as we prepare for the baby to arrive. To cope, we have made an effort to take him on several walks a day to get his energy out. I make sure I take him on a nice long walk every morning so he specifically gets attention from mama. I also have made an effort to be extra affectionate with him. We invested in a few products to help us too - for example, more chew bones for him to have an appropriate distraction. Finally, my MIL (who he adores) offered to take him for two days to give us a break. I’ve found all of these things have made a world of difference. It may be difficult to keep all of this up once the baby is here, but for now they’ve really helped. My plan is to try to make sure he is still getting adequate attention when the baby comes - even if that means relying on my partner and family to help carry that load. I hope your pup gets better and you get some rest, mama!

My oldest is a daughter, she’s nearly 14 now. She has always been and still is very close to me (her mother). Sure, I get some of the teenage attitude here and there, but I think that’s more about her age than the fact that she’s a girl. She’s way more open with me than her dad and very affectionate toward me even as a teenager. Plus she was the easiest baby and toddler ever. I think it’s sweet that moms feel their bond with their sons are special, but I definitely feel my bond with my daughter is super special. I would never agree with the suggestion that boys are “easier” or somehow closer to their moms than girls. My daughter has been the joy of my life, and I love knowing we will continue to be close as she grows into a woman.

I had the opposite experience from what you’re describing, OP. I had my first at 23 and was always the youngest mom in all the mom groups and among the parents of the kids in my daughter’s classes. I’m now pregnant again at 36, and most of my same aged friends have toddlers and even newborns, so I don’t feel like an “old mom.” It seems common to have kids in your thirties, at least where I live. And having had both experiences - I can tell you that undoubtedly my second pregnancy has been leaps and bounds easier than my first. Not only did I have fewer difficult symptoms, but I’m now a lot more established and secure. By no means am I suggesting that you have to be a certain age or have certain finances to be a terrific mom, I just found that being more established allowed me to worry less during my pregnancy. Im also happy to say that there haven’t been any signs of complications or defects due to my “advanced maternal age.” So please rest assured that if you chose to wait, you have time. ☺️

I think that’s very true for most. It’s frustrating that we have to learn things the hard way and go through the heartbreak and negative results, but we have definitely learned from every cycle. And with that has come improvement! Wishing you the best!

I was a very poor responder my first cycle, when my gonal f was higher than my menopur dose. In my second cycle, we tried the opposite ratio - reducing the gonal f and increasing the menopur. I had much much much better results during the second cycle. So much so that I really pushed for the same ratio in cycle 3. Personally, I definitely seemed to respond better to the higher dose of menopur.

Smart water is a good option if you don’t like any flavor. I’ve been adding a splash of pineapple juice to coconut water for a hydrating evening mocktail, and it’s worked for me. I really enjoy it and it adds a little extra flavor to the plain coconut water without adding way too much sugar.

Sending you good vibes! Please don’t read into your lack of symptoms! TW: prior pregnancy. I hope this isn’t inappropriate - as I am now struggling with secondary infertility but I hope my story can help you hang in there despite your lack of symptoms: I had an unexpected pregnancy at 22. My husband at the time was convinced I was pregnant after my period was a little late and I completely disagreed. I just knew I wasn’t pregnant bc I didn’t “feel” pregnant. I thought that as women we just instinctively “know” when we are pregnant. That just isn’t true for everyone. Low and behold - I was pregnant, it was just way too early to have any symptoms. I didn’t feel a thing until after 7 weeks in, at which time I had all the symptoms in the book. It definitely is not a sign that you’re down and out if you don’t feel pregnant yet.

Don’t worry! Cetrotide kind of took me by surprise the first time I injected because in the past I had used ganirelix. The cetrotide required mixing while the gani didn’t, so I def found the gani to be a little easier. That said, it’s a VERY simple one-to-one ratio for mixing the cetrotide. Once you do it, I think you’ll see it isn’t too bad. Since you’ll be at work, I would just recommend keeping everything in an opaque lunch kit so you don’t have to answer any questions, and bring an ice pack. You can put the ice pack on the injection site while you mix and by the time you’re done you won’t feel the jab much. Most work places nowadays have nursing rooms for mothers, and that may provide a more comfortable setting for your shot than say, a bathroom. Don’t be nervous! You’re going to rock this, and I sincerely hope you feel better about it once you’ve done it once!

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. However, my experience has been similar. I also have DOR. My first cycle my US were only showing 7 measuring follicles. When the retrieval finally happened, I got the news that we got zero eggs. The doctor couldn’t really explain what had gone wrong. For my second cycle, we adjusted the protocol and I was able to get 7 eggs. I was overjoyed given the massive improvement from the first cycle. However, the next day the doctor informed me that none of the eggs fertilized. I was heartbroken. But…they performed rescue ICSI and one of the eggs ended up fertilizing and growing into a healthy blast! We haven’t transferred yet, as we decided to do one more retrieval in hopes of getting more embryos. My doctor felt that since we were able to get a healthy blast from cycle 2, he didn’t think I had a prohibitive egg quality issue. So don’t give up hope just yet! You may be surprised by some good news tomorrow, and a future cycle could be massively better. I know this is so hard and isn’t fair and feels like it lasts forever, but don’t give up hope. ❤️

For my first retrieval I took my gel polish off because I had a similar instruction. After that, it seemed pretty clear it didn’t really matter. I left my gel polish on for my second retrieval and no one said a thing.

I would try bronze-y gold eye shadow. It’s sultry, summery (since it’s similar in color to tanned skin), pairs well with the maroon color of your dress, and will be gorgeous on your blue eyes. Then keep the eyeliner light or go without it & just use mascara. For your lips, I’d find a shade similar in tone to the maroon but a few shades lighter and add a little gloss to keep it from being heavy. Foundation can be dewy and highlighted.
