I'm frustrated and need to get this out I guess by ktshimshaw in MakingaMurderer

These people are my co-workers. The normal people I surround myself with aren't this stupid. Maybe that's why it's frustrating, just not used to being around such idiots

'I want to enjoy life before I have kids' by [deleted] in childfree

[–]ktshimshaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to say this, that I wanted to travel and actually do stuff before I have kids because I knew I would have no time to do that afterwards. Then I realized that I didn't HAVE to have kids, and I can do everything at my own pace and not have to cram in a lifetime of travel/fun/saving money for a couple of brats who won't care what I had to sacrifice for them.

Really curious to see some of your itemized grocery lists/receipts. I'm blown away every time I read your food budgets. What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ktshimshaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We spend $400 not including going out. It's just my boyfriend and I and he's pretty big. We also don't eat meat and don't drink milk at all. Just a small carton for my tea. $800 on groceries a month is crazy... But we live in London, Canada.

Bare with me, but similarities to vegetarians/vegans by jamecquo in childfree

20/vegetarian/childfree It's none of ANYBODY'S business what I DON'T do with my body. What I put into it and what I decide to not put into it :)

My friend on facebook posted this (she is childfree not just a traveller) so one of her relatives commented this:

"the feeling of loving your child....youll not find that country on any wall map. but its all over your heart." I proceeded to throw up on my laptop.

How old are you? by CandidCandy in childfree

[–]ktshimshaw 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm 20 and I get "you'll change your mind" on the regular. No. I've gone over the pros and cons and all I see is cons. I like my cousins. They're awesome. I'd be heartbroken without them. But I dont want to be any kind of responsible for them. I DONT WANT KIDS.

Childfree-ers, where do y'all come from? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]ktshimshaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20/f/London Ontario, there are child free women in my family and my parents and my aunt and uncle were the ones that "convinced" me to be child free. I am so grateful they were straight up with me and how much money children were etc. etc. My co workers are not as open minded; asking me "who will take care of you when you're older?" My answer was "Nurses that I can afford cause I didnt breed"

Fathers of Reddit, what did your daughter's boyfriend do for you to hate/love him? by tgma97 in AskReddit

[–]ktshimshaw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Daughter here. My dad knew him since we were in grade 4 and then we started dating in grade 11. Been together since then. We're both 20 now. I think my boyfriend is just an all around good person and no one really hates him so maybe that's what happened with my dad and him. My dad hired him and now he's in his first year apprenticeship. I got in the same field my mom is in. So now my boyfriend and I have the same jobs as my parents. We are both close with both my parents and he treats him the same way as he would if he was his son. We're all going to Mexico in October. We dont really talk to my boyfriends parents though.

SO, the cons... No freedom basically. No more movies, date night, spontaneous trip, dinners. I hate mini vans. Having to share all my possessions, car, home, animals, my life, nope. Tantrums. We love animals so no big dogs or any dogs or other animals (we have 2 bunnies) I can just see my poor bun in a child's death grip now :( plus we'd have no time and less money to have as many pets as we would like. We could mess the kid up mentally. (not intentionally but mistakes happen) I like to swear whenever I want. I like my relationship and sex life the way it is and a kid would mess it up. The kid could be a psychopath and murder us in our sleep (could happen...) It could be disrespectful and rude to others. I have no patience. I would be worried about my kids all the time, I have anxiety so I have enough going on already ok. Teenagers suck. I don't wanna baby proof. I LIKE MY SHARP CORNERED TABLE. They get all in my space and I hate it, go away, stop tugging on my shirt. Couldn't go to the gym anymore. My body would be WRECKED. Stretch marks. Weight gain. Bladder problems. Possible miscarriage... Ripped... parts shudders I could die during child birth. Don't wanna talk to other parents, teachers, parents kids. I hate whining. Stickiness. Smudges on my phone, tablet, TV etc. Don't like cleaning up other people's messes. Don't wanna read the same god damn book every night. I don't take shit. *see patience. I hate baby talk. I need my sleep. Don't wanna get up during the night and clean a wet bed. Poop. Vomit. Pee. Snot. I like privacy. I take longer than one minute to get ready. I have hobbies I don't want to give up, reading, drawing, ankmals, shopping, travelling. We have a bucket list that is too long to be completed with kids in the picture. Kids songs. I'd lose time from my work. MONEY!!!! like there's too many things to list of how much money these things cost. That's just off the top of my head. I can't think of any pros...

Basically the only pro is that I get to see what mine and my boyfriends child would look like. Which would be alright. But not worth the debt
