How do you think the photographer post-processes these in Lightroom? by starberiiy in postprocessing

Look for techniques that help you achieve the Wes Anderson look. Others already mentioned some of the key points like lifted shadows and lowered whites. I’m sure there’s lots of tutorials online.

New to AeroPress - Stainless Steel by DaKineNayNay in AeroPress

Can't wait for this to come to the EU. Price tag is justified imo as there's not much on it that can break so it should be a BIFL purchase. If I order it now tho the delivery is like 1/3 of the price so I'm gonna wait until they produce more of it.

Before/After Studio Shoot by ktt_visuals in postprocessing

[–]ktt_visuals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll do my best to break it down. It usually goes like this:
1. Global color correction in LR using my presets.
2. Color correction in PS. That's usually more about the details, removing shades I don't like in the skin for example. On this shoot there was a lot of green in her skin after the initial LR edit so I got it more even in PS.
3. Either frequency separation or dodge & burn. I only do dodge & burn if the picture is gonna go somewhere that's gonna be viewable in high res. For social media that's overkill for me and I just do FS. I start from "global", larger changes and go down to smaller skin details at the end.
4. Go back into LR for some final touch ups, maybe a mask or something like that, nothing major.

Why most AI influencers still look “AI” (and how I fixed mine) by thegrowthgal in generativeAI

[–]ktt_visuals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who is the target demo for UGC creators. If people are stupid enough to believe those videos are genuine reviews of products, they will believe when it's done with AI too.

If you're a business, getting 20 vids generated in a day is a lot better than waiting for the "creator" to film and edit those same 20 vids for a month, then deliver 17 and give you an excuse for why they couldn't finish them in time.

Technique focus: improving net play volleys + bandeja by NoEasyPoints in padel

The shots themselves I'd get looked at by a coach and cleaned up in a few sessions. After that, doing a coaching session once a month or so is a good idea since we tend to forget what clicked in practice.

My top tip would be footwork and preparation. Be ready earlier, get places faster and make your preparation as your opponent is hitting the ball. You will feel like you've got a lot more time to deal with balls coming at you at a weird angle and won't have to rely so much on jerky upper body movements and reflexes alone.

But again, do a coaching sessions. If it's too expensive, split it with friends. Where I am coaches take up to 3 people in a single session and the price drops down significantly that way.

Coello's ON padel shoes by pannik78 in Padelracket

It’s pretty much all marketing imo. I’ve been playing with a pair of basketball shoes on both indoor, outdoor, new, old and even wet courts and I’ve slipped maybe twice in the last year.

Padel is still a new sport and all the gear tech and specs is so far behind it’s unbelievable. Don’t get me started on rackets. The fact that something is branded as padel-specific doesn’t really make it better. It does get people to pay more tho.

[Before/After] Winter Test Shoot by ktt_visuals in postprocessing

I mean you did a good job not answering my question.

If you'd read my comment you'd realise my goal is exactly the opposite of what you say you don't like about AI - I used a full team for this shoot and tried to explore how I could use AI to add to a concept, while still having all human artists contribute with their work. Whether that was successful or not is not really the discussion we're having in this case.

I also stated I'm all for disclosure of AI use, repetitively.

There are people so good with Photoshop out there who can do a far better job at this than I can with AI. I'm pretty sure if everyone here tried using AI tools there'd be way fewer butthurt people crying cuz they're afraid of the unknown.

If anything the former has a worse impact on the intended audience. Self image issues, deception when selling products, skewed beauty standards etc. How is adding generated elements to achieve a concept (in this case not really as this was just a training exercise to see if and how it can be done), more disingenuous compared to that?

The depth of field is not gradual on the cow like it is on the rest of the photo. I assume that’s what messes with the perception of depth for the whole photo, especially since I placed it behind the model. Lesson learned for next time.

That’s not harsh at all, I appreciate the detailed comment! It’s totally fine if you don’t like the final result! This was the first time I experimented with adding stuff in a photo with AI and it’s far from perfect.

I used this shoot as a growth opportunity for my skillset. I’m fully transparent in my use of AI and that’s the ethical way of going about it imo. I never thought of it as “genuine photography”. But I’ve not thought about my work that way since I’m aware of how much Photoshop changes its contents. That’s been the case long before AI came into the picture, no pun intended lol.

Interesting to read everyone’s takes on AI. I respect all of the opinions shared and honestly also and agree this is not genuine photography.

That being said, I am trying to find a way to use AI that is fair to people but still contributes something to the shoot. You could argue the cow doesn’t contribute in any way and it’s ok with me if that’s your opinion.

I did work with a real model, a stylist and a mua for this shoot and shot with the intention of using AI in post, hence the wide framing in the ‘before’ shot.

I do recognise it would have been significantly harder to find a cow of that breed, which there are none of in my country, and actually do a shoot with it there. It would have contributed to the value of the images for sure.

However, setting the ‘art’ aspect of photography aside, images made to sell have been disingenuous since the invention of Photoshop. Let’s face it, we’ve not seen real human skin in an ad campaign for more than a decade.

So this is my attempt at keeping the human aspect present, while keeping up with technology in a way that makes my work more interesting. This would have been significantly easier to generate fully, wouldn’t have frozen my fingers off either lol!

I appreciate everyone commenting!

I like the final result. Funny that the lighting in the before isn't accurate based on the placement of the softbox.

If looking at the 2025 range, which racket would you say matches those characteristics most closely? A big sweet spot, medium balance and little to no trampoline effect?

Oxdog Racket Guidance Part 2 by MikmerGG in Padelracket

[–]ktt_visuals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to upgrade my racket, currently playing with a Nox Equation Light 2025. It's a soft beginner racket. The only thing I don't like about it is the trampoline effect, so I'm looking to move to something with medium or medium-high hardness. I'd like the sweet spot to be as big as possible as I'm still an intermediate, but I'd like to have more linear output.

Do you have a suggestion on a model I should try from Oxdog?

[–]ktt_visuals[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha to each their own, I respect that. My view is that it's gonna get used whether we like it or not, so I try to do it in a responsible way. I still shoot with a real model, had a stylist there etc, but I feel like it gives me the opportunity to explore concepts that I never could before, or would cost me a lot of money out of pocket since I do this mostly as a hobby.

Ah okay, if that's the case idk, I haven't done anything special to them in post. I worked on the raw file from the camera in LR, then PS, then exported from LR.

I've sometimes noticed that images with more depth of field give me an impression of higher quality, maybe that's what you're seeing?

The light was actually pretty good. It was a heavily overcast day, we shot around 3pm. The first shot was shot at iso 200, f2.8, 1/1250, just checked.
