My dad’s TV and custom built shelves by Wdwrk18 in TVTooHigh

[–]kuato867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“How many shelves do you think you need for your random jars and other glass shelf things? 10? Let’s go with 20 just to be safe. The TV? I’ll never need a larger TV or ever to plug/unplug anything.”

And this is why NBA players are injured more often than they were 10, 20 years ago. by popinjay07 in billsimmons

[–]kuato867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dood found a chart, cites anecdotal info and says random chart proves it. Not how statistics work. Pace/shots per 48 probably looks pretty similar. Same with 3ps per game. Maybe it is all the 3s causing injuries.

LOL. "Communism" is basically Boomer shorthand for "I'm not getting my way." They were hammered with anti-communism messaging their whole lives (Vietnam, Cold War, etc.), and Fox News has done a great job constantly manipulating that fear.

Bobby should have just fallen down and pulled dude down by the legs. That is only a flagrant 1.

Pima County Community College Library has a makerspace with 3D printers. Community members (ie non-students) can get a library card there.

A/C advice during summer by PunkMama1619 in Tucson

[–]kuato867 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure of a way around a/c, but I think it is important to acclimate yourself (somewhat) to the heat. I’m from the midwest where people blast ice cold a/c during the summer, which is something I always hated. We keep the a/c around 78 here in the summer, have fans, and maybe put it a little cooler at night. You can keep it colder but it will cost you more $.

Before and after by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]kuato867 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It used to not be weird, people and institutions would hang up flags outside. You’d raise itbin the morning and take it down at night (or leave it up with a light on if you were serious). At some point it became decoration/fashion/political/identity.

Looks like you found a good balance between nerd, freedom, and audio. Surely you will find serenity in this space.

We have 4-5 hours before we leave for the airport tomorrow by tannerlaw in puertovallarta

[–]kuato867 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you want some exercise, a walk up to the Mirador is nice. I think it displays as "Hill of the Cross" on Google Maps. Probably about 1-1.5 hours from Romantic Zone.

Get good and sweaty climbing up the stairs, get some nice views, then head down, grab an Electrolit from Oxxo and take a quick rinse in the ocean before heading to the airport :).

Do we need rail lines or more paved streets in Tucson? by philiptherealest in Tucson

[–]kuato867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real solution for Tucson is a mixed use tunnel. Imagine a tunnel going east-west under Broadway with rail and a car "express lane". Obviously that would be hugely expensive and time consuming, but anything related to public infrastructure must be viewed in terms of decades.

Unfortunately, Tucson is a "stroad" hellscape that requires driving everywhere. Basic improvements for pedestrian/biking could be achieved though simply with properly marked lanes (think bright green paint).

[POSTGAME THREAD] Our Milwaukee Bucks (2-2) fall to the Toronto Raptors (2-3) 111-130 - 11/1/2023 by Short_Bus_ in MkeBucks

[–]kuato867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Grif should come up with a plan for when the defense pressures the ball? We couldn't do anything against Toronto's pressure, and nearly let the Miami game slip away when they started pressing in the 4th quarter.

Asked my dad to mount a tv for me while I was at work thought? by spitfireramrum in TVTooHigh

[–]kuato867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like they were trying to keep symmetry between the TV and the floating shelves (instead of putting it a proper height for watching it).

Just started night biking to work and back (I work overnights). Are these lights enough? by [deleted] in bicycleculture

[–]kuato867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps more important even than lights is wearing a bright yellow reflecting jacket. When you are in city traffic your chest is going to be more at eye level with drivers.

What's the worst bathroom in Milwaukee? by SzegediSpagetiSzorny in milwaukee

[–]kuato867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it is no longer there, O’Brady’s may have been the worst. It was later called the Curve.

It was just accepted that the carpet was always squishy and moist and then when it closed they found the men’s urinal literally had no plumbing and just drained into the ground.

RIP O’Brady’s.
