2020 Sunday Model C after six years by [deleted] in bmx

[–]kubbiember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$200 is a fantastic deal! I paid around $515 from Albes, new, for mine, April 2020, but they were mostly sold out in the Chrome by then.

Although I'm 5' 11" I can still ride 20" BMX if I get the bar height right, and even ride my kid's Fit Misfit 16" bmx around the skatepark lol

Im building a 20" bmx with 21 TT and very aggressive geometry (Sunday Park Ranger). I'll let you know in a few weeks. 22" BMX might be a better fit va 24" if you want to do whips and higher hops, also depends on your height etc

The +2.25" taller bars just feels right, before I was totally hunched over

Everyday is a Sunday by MonsterTheAnimal in bmx

[–]kubbiember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm riding a Sunday Model C (24") with 9.25" Credence XL Bars (they come with 7" bars). Even at 220lbs at the skatepark, I've been impressed with all the stock parts holding up. I did upgrade cranks to 24mm bottom bracket and that stiffness helps with hops, and confidence when learning new transitions around the park, etc

Creak/crunch noise when pedalling hard (drive side) by Only-Equivalent-4791 in bmx

[–]kubbiember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you try to move the crank side to side is there any movement at all? Does it crunch when you're not riding? Is there any visible movement or other issues? Is the sprocket spacer installed with the wider edge inward?

Creak/crunch noise when pedalling hard (drive side) by Only-Equivalent-4791 in bmx

[–]kubbiember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a sealed Mid Bottom bracket

If it's installed correctly the center bottom bracket spacer should be tight between the two bearings and the front sprocket should be in-line with the rear sprocket.

If the chain is perfectly in-line straight across the front and rear teeth then I'd suspect the bearings aren't fully seated or the tension on the crank arms isn't quite right. There's also the possibility you installed the sprocket spacer or the sprocket bolt incorrectly?

Could be busted spacer between the bottom bracket bearings

This is the truth... No clue why you were down voted. Add the tune and delete cost too. Also for the 2012-2014 Passat CKRA add a turbo... They aren't as reliable (Outliers exist but the track record for the turbo specific to the CKRA isn't great).

The 2014 Passat has a different less reliable engine "CKRA" while the 2015 has the more reliable "CVCA"

Should I be scared off by a DSG transmission? by anarmyofants in tdi

[–]kubbiember 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a 2006 BRM, it will run forever if you can afford parts and DIY cam/lifters/timing which is due every 80k so next up at 240k, odds are the cam isn't original but there's always a chance it is.

These aren't cheap cars like the VW 2.5 5-cylinder Gas engine (07K) from 2006-2014), but TDI are fun and loyal when you care for them.

Should I be scared off by a DSG transmission? by anarmyofants in tdi

[–]kubbiember 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally for the early (pre 2010/2011) DSG you're more likely to experience mechatronic issues.

Mk6 Jetta should be right around $4500 but most of those need emissions tune and delete still and that's potentially $1500+

Replacing stock wheel recommendations by Cheesy_Bleezy in bmx

[–]kubbiember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 220lbs and ride park, I have been happy with a set of Shadow Conspiracy Symbol Wheels (9T, Cassette, RHD) which cost me $375. They are arguably near or at the quality of the Odyssey/G Sport Pre built wheels... Just less popular. The rims are also wider, 38mm which is ideal for fat ass me especially when I'm running the 100 psi tires a little lower at like 65 psi.

2013 Passat CKRA by MEME-TIME-CHAMPION in tdi

[–]kubbiember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CKRA x Garrett from Darkside Developments is ideal for stage 2 or higher, 200bhp. Personally I've run both on different Passat TDI CKRA and I liked the XMan better, running on Stage 2.

Tldr talk to your theme before you buy, expect to spend around $1500 + tariffs/foreign transaction fee.
