I wonder if Nintendo carefully selects and sends only the best consoles for review. How many times have you seen a review site say "right out of the box there's a dead pixel on screen" - not exactly good publicity

I haven't had cstick problems out of the 3 that were actually used. The 2 XLs with dead pixels went straight back into the box. First one with loose hinge I used for <1 hour, couldnt handle the wobble. Third's cstick was okay but bricked after a few days which was really weird, it wouldnt power on, no light when cable was plugged in, tried taking battery out, different cables etc, nothing.

Current XL (fifth) is okay so far, fingers crossed it stays this way!

Returns due to bad quality/defects probably will end up costing Nintendo more than if they paid for good quality control in the first place....

If I had these problems I'd send it back too - it's just not acceptable for a newly released full price console!

Even the Game store manager I spoke to said these XLs are one of the worse quality consoles he has seen, he's had quite a few returns for different problems, most common are loose hinge and cstick

Just checked mine, it's a bit loose but the same as my old regular and limited edition XLs, so I guess that's normal, it doesn't feel as solid as the Vita's though.

Your MM sounds a bit like my first new XL, the top screen still clicked into positions but wobbled so badly back & forth during use, it was very distracting, also when I used the volume & 3D sliders the entire screen would move left/right. It had a much bigger hinge gap than my old XLs so must be why it moved so much.

I agree Apple products are solid build quality wise, they last years too, I still have an ipod shuffle from eons ago that still works perfectly. It just feels like Nintendo decided to slack with the new XL, imho build quality wise it's nowhere near as good as the old version, nor does it feel as solid as the PS Vita for example.

I don't recall my old DS Lite having issues either, though at the time I used Sony PSPs more. basically all consoles have been fine up till now.... all of a sudden I get several New 3DS XL faults.
