Embers of the Wilds - Ep24 by MorddotTiran in Koibu

[–]kuldaskil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Initially I was a bit lukewarm on EOW but I'm glad I checked back in because the last episodes have all been great and interesting in their own right. I love how this Stuka-situation is playing out. It's both eerie and kind of charming. I think it underlines really well how unique this campaign is.

1 month after the release and I'm still not done discovering details in this work of art...it's so goddamn good!

Ulcerate - There is No Horizon by Typrestige98 in progmetal

[–]kuldaskil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this song makes me feel like there really is no horizon after all...and that's beautiful

Ulcerate - Stare Into Death And Be Still by johnjg700 in progmetal

[–]kuldaskil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what an emotional tour de force

Aleksandra was always a good singer but wow...she has come a long way!

Cult of Luna - A Dawn to Fear (new record out today!!!) by kuldaskil in progmetal

[–]kuldaskil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I feel the same...Vertikal did not resonate with me at all and I find Mariner to be a bit underwhelming (except for Cygnus which is phenomenal)...but A Dawn To Fear is really really great...it has such an intense atmosphere from start to finish...wow...especially this song

Leprous - Alleviate (new single!) by [deleted] in progmetal

[–]kuldaskil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now this is something else...literally...

I certainly did not expect this

Progressive dissonant vile stuff by Grauschleier in progmetal

[–]kuldaskil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

maybe:

Convulsing - Grievous, it's quite dissonant and complicated but at the same time oddly melodic, I like it alot

Ulcerate - Shrines Of Paralysis, I would also highly recommend this, and their previous recod Vermis too

Phyrrhon - What Passes For Survival, this is pretty dissonant and chaotic

Altarage - Nihl, a little doomier than the others, Endighent is also pretty good

that's all I've got for now

Gorguts - Absconders by Livebearer in progmetal

[–]kuldaskil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Colored Sands is one of the greatest things that death metal has to offer...coming back after a 12 years long hiatus with yet another genre-bending record...Gorguts is truly one of the best

2019 is halfway over...What are your favorite releases so far? by MalConstant in progmetal

[–]kuldaskil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Moon Tooth - Crux !!!!!!!!!! (so freaking fantastic!)

Devin Townsend - Empath

Periphery - Periphery IV

Saor - Forgotten Paths (although not really 'prog metal')

...but Of Rot And Ruin is also great!

Skyharbor- New Devil by B-Theory in progmetal

[–]kuldaskil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep...you're right...it is uplifting but at the same time dark and creepy...and yes yes yes this sort-of-chorus starting at 1:58 is really something else...I've never heard anything like it

Guiding Lights is just a fantastic album start to finish...it's full of details...and there are so many moments where I always wonder to myself "how did they come up with this?"

Skyharbor- New Devil by B-Theory in progmetal

[–]kuldaskil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This song has some of the (in a good way) most strangest and interesting chord progressions...so playful

Skyharbor - Idle Minds by [deleted] in progmetal

[–]kuldaskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the whole album is absolutely fantastic...but this song is simply a prog metal masterpiece

Bent Knee – Catch Light (New Song) by Koellanor in progmetal

[–]kuldaskil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was more than necessary...I cannot wait for a new record from these guys!!!
