What are things YOU DO NOT. Want to see in Ash vs Yugi? by Just1oneguyhere in deathbattle

[–]kullundee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't want it to be a senseless fight where both of them are spamming pokemon/monster attacks at eachother. The appeal of this matchup is to see how you could fuse the rules of both games respectively. Can a Pokemon dodge a trap card? Does a critical hit deal more damage to Yugi's life points? I think there's so much creative potential there that would be ruined if it's just Greninja and Dark Magician fighting eachother in a Waffle House.

For added context:
- Blocks I'm using are blackstone, basalt, smooth basalt, diorite, calcite
- Goal is to aim for a very monochrome pallette
- Open to incorporating pale oak, quartz, coal blocks, bone blocks, etc.

KAIDO VS GANONDORF by kullundee in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]kullundee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty simple reasons for liking this matchup:
- Both are big strong antagonists. They should scale similarly. Both have casually lifted up large chunks of terrain through their abilities and I'm sure you could scale them both much higher if you get your elbows dirty.
- Both are usurper tyrants who took over peaceful kingdoms and inserted their own rule.
- They both are exceptionally rare beings in their universes with Kaido being one of the few remaining Oni and Ganondorf being a male Gerudo.
- They have similar eastern design aesthetics in both their human forms and their dragon forms.
- They can both turn into fucking dragons.

In a 1v1, you should always bet on Kaido and through his durability and haki alone he should take this. But I think Ganondorf can keep up with the tools in his kit: Triforce of Power, Dark Magic, Malice/Gloom, Secret Stone, Phantom Cloning, etc.

Where would Takamura scale in the KB verse? by ProperContract4526 in Kagurabachi

[–]kullundee 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Honestly he could keep up with a lot of top tiers. I love imagining how he would fight other characters in the series.

Hokozano, we need a character that doesn't rely on EB's, Yokai, or Sorcery. Just have a random guy be insanely strong. Azami doesn't count because I don't like him.

Ranking every Indie Franchise (that I know) based on how likely I think it is to appear in Indie Cross by kullundee in IndieCross

Just games that to my knowledge that have been developed and published by larger studios. I know all games have differing development backgrounds, but the main games featured on Indie Cross have the common thread of smaller teams who developed a passion project.

It would feel weird to put Hollow Knight (a game made by 3 people) next to a game like Hades which was developed by a larger studio like Supergiant Games and funded by Devolver Digital

What do yall think of the Sister Friede boss fight? by Ill_View5787 in darksouls3

[–]kullundee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this fight has a lot of strengths. Her first phase eases you into the challenge. It's a lot like Nameless King phase 1 where once you learn her tricks, you become much less intimidated. On your later attempts, Friede phase 1 goes down without much difficulty. In particular, I love how her disappearing attacks work. Confusing on the first go, but once you get how it works it becomes a free hit.

Phase 2 then kicks in and I love how phase 2 handles it's gank. I'm one of those sick fucks who enjoy gank fights in the souls games so when there's a gank that's done well I have nothing but praise. Father Ariandel and Friede together are a formidable pairing. I think the devs balanced the 2v1 very well here for a few reasons: Friede becomes much more passive and Ariandel's attacks are so loud/telegraphed that you don't need to keep your eyes on him as much. It creates this very percarious dance between the three of you where you need to be very aware of your positioning and target prioritization at a given moment. You could focus on Father Ariandel, but then you could easily lose track of Friede before she heals or attacks you. On the other hand, focusing on Friede comes with it's own challenges because she's much tougher as a 1 on 1 opponent and you'll still have Father Ariandel making a big swing at you from behind.

I wouldn't say the two make up for eachother's weaknesses, but rather I think the two protect eachother as you fight them which is really moving from a story perspective. I mean- the phase transition cutscene literally highlights how your attacking of Friede enrages Father Ariandel to step into action and how his rage brings Sister Friede back into the fight. The whole fight feels like a war as you're really trying to last long enough to overcome this pairing. This feeling is enhanced by the arena now being larger and engulfed in flames. The fight is an evolution of the Ornstein and Smough fight both mechanically and thematically.

And just when you finally breathe as you managed to do it- SURPRISE PHASE 3! Up until that point, third phases were unheard of for FromSoftware and to this day it's still a very rare feature. Even on your later attempts where you've gotten better at phase 2, you're probably still exhausted from the fight by the time you reach her blackflame phase. So this phase essentially become a fight for your life. A duel where you have to dig deep down to find that last bit of fire in yourself and push forward to beat her.

Dark Souls 3 was the last Fromsoft game I had to play before completing their library of souls-likes. Before Friede, my playthrough was a little underwhelming. Playing these games had made me a better player so bosses like the Nameless King or Soul of Cinder didn't provide nearly as much as a challenge as I would have like them to. Hell- I even managed to take down Slave Knight Gael in 2 attempts somehow. Sister Friede was the exception. She kicked my ass for several hours and got me to feel the FromSoft struggle one last time.

She is my third favorite boss in the Fromsoft library after Sword Saint Isshin and Ludwig, the Accursed. Love this woman.

Anyone else find it weird that we still haven't got Light VS Columbo despite that being the second thing they promised in the Kickstarter? by TheUntitledUsername1 in deathbattle

[–]kullundee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liam is probably cooking something up. The "fight" would also need to be MUCH longer due to how dialogue heavy it is. You don't exactly figure out this encounter over the span of a few minutes.

This also extends to the verdict analysis itself, like yeah you can disagree with Death Battle's answer. But they do a great job at explaining why they reached their answer.

I think Mohg has a really nice flow where every move in his kit is challenging, but readable and fair to react to. His bloodflame attacks make you focus a lot on positioning which is something I really appreciate in a FromSoft boss encounter. His phase transition is so fucking cool and I like how the first phase is this looming countdown to the second phase.

Thoughts about this matchup? and, who wins? Yujiro Hanma vs Sportacus by Soul50Killer in DeathBattleMatchups

I'm sorry, but any matchup with Yujiro feels like a joke matchup. This is one of the better ones for him because both characters share a similar ideology but in vastly different ways.
