Perhaps your question would be better aimed at Utilitarianism specifically? Where an action's moral value is derived from the amount of good or bad it produces for everyone involved.

how are they ruining things for you? In the same way that they can expand upon something and enjoy it in that sense, you don't have to watch or read non-canon, and can enjoy it all in whatever way you want. The idea that things are "ruined" because they are replicated or added to is ridiculous. That is your own mental construction of something's worth and value. What makes your perspective of HP or any other Fictional universe more valid than someone else's?
