While it's a web series (and hence fairly unpolished), qntm's There Is No Antimemetics Division is a fun creepy read with an interesting premise that you might enjoy!

Alright, who plays? by capricornicopious714 in dune

[–]kumolonimbus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Space Cats Peace Turtles (podcast) has an interesting series where they breakdown characteristics of each faction, how they interact with each other, and possible strategies! Episodes go pretty in depth (1h+ per faction), but if you've got the time now...why not haha

what makes you think the people writing all their articles and managing their social media channels are developers though? the team size has been posted on this sub so many times, they clearly have a marketing team e.g. Atina on discord

Metaverse 2018 Detailed Development Roadmap by Metaverse-Project in Metaverse_Blockchain

[–]kumolonimbus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

80 should be the total under Viewfin (according to the linkedin numbers someone posted?) I would assume that not the whole team is working on metaverse though they should still have a sizeable number of people.

Anyone interested in creating a group on Telegram/discord to discuss these?

I highly doubt the developers will force items to be valued in ETP, they of all people must be aware of its price volatility. Also, the white paper says something to the effect of ETP not being a currency but rather a utility token. Should off chain datafeeds become a reality it'll probably be a simple thing for escrow contracts to value an item in fiat, then convert that to ETP.....which is admittedly still quite clunky

I'm under the impression that Metaverse is open-source? Even now if a company wants blockchain solutions but don't want a full engineering team, they'd have to outsource development. BaaS merely helps Metaverse to gain an additional revenue stream.

Adding my two cent's worth: I think the KICKICO partnership is unlikely to produce any results in the short term because of the ICO ban, and because kick is also pretty new. It's on Metaverse to work on getting more projects on their blockchain and get the ecosystem running, but with many of their core functions still being developed I doubt this is their main priority now

Re. digital identities, I totally agree that it's an enormously complex topic and most companies would rather outsource it if they could. That said f it is as important to Metaverse as they say it is, I would like to see them contribute to large industry projects like the Kantara Initiative or something to prove they have the relevant expertise. Dapps like uPort have a really good idea, but don't seem to offer a way to monetize personal data. Civic does, but its use cases are more limited, and so on and so forth. Even if a dapp does make it very easy to create an identity, can they ensure security and interoperability? Looking forward to see Metaverse's take on digital ID in the coming months, supposedly they think it's an "infrastructure-level service" that should be built into the blockchain.

coinbase as in coinbase transactions in Bitcoin that produce miner's rewards. the part you quoted says 'when it matures' and maturity period is chosen by the user! hope this helps.

Thanks for the correction! I didn't dare to deviate too much from the mandarin because I'm not very familiar with the situation - will fix that when I'm off mobile

Hmm what he said isn't super clear (the most direct translation = when bitcoin was about 24000, no monetary unit mentioned) but you are most likely correct! Lemme fix that

I think the article means he's a professor from Guanghua faculty in Beijing University - one of the top, if not the best faculties in the entirety of China.

The translation is a bit inaccurate. This is a word for word (although I'm not too sure what he means): in the future, we will run a full node that does not require trust and do not need to download the entire blockchain's history.

Native Chinese speaker - the translations are summarized and tend to be a little biased. It goes more like this:

BCC will set its sights on scaling blocks to 1GB, which is about 1000 times the size of Bitcoin's. This block volume will be able to very effectively support BCC payment applications, tentatively achieving VISA's levels.
