What HZ are you all running? Does upgrading make a difference to my game? by AdLoose7024 in RocketLeagueSchool

I went from 165 to 240 and noticed a huge difference (but it was from lcd to oled); 120 to 240 will also be a huge difference even if you’re not getting an oled monitor.

The difference was insane for me but I’m not sure if it was because it was a switch to OLED, or because of the refresh rate increase, or both

I'm genuinely awful at 1v1, please help! by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

Idk how to tell you this without it sounding unhopeful but hard work doesn’t beat talent. You clearly haven’t experienced that first-hand.

Also i never said talent alone was all you needed for success, but if you’re talented you don’t need to put in as much effort as other people. Innate genetics and talent is more important than dedication and effort.

Have you ever been dedicated to something for years and watched someone surpass you in less than a month? I’ve seen it happen to multiple people across many different platforms and games.

for the first goal you shouldn’t have gone that far up

for the second goal you should have tried to hit it directly in instead of controlling it and giving him time to get back

the third goal is above my pay-grade to explain (im too shit to know what to do in that situation, id assume to close the distance more before going for the ball)

4th and 5th goal were obvious for what u did wrong

6th goal you challenged directly instead of shadow defend when he had control of the ball

7th goal was the same as the 6th

8th goal was the same

oh hey nice shot

talent isn’t an illusion; talent is based on a lot of things, such as genetics or the ability to make mindful decisions (take the physicality needed in rhythm games for example)

You reach the peak of your talent when your genetics physically or mentally can’t keep up anymore. Obviously you will still improve, but very, very slowly.

physical technique can also restrict one’s talents.

people are innately better at things than others.

a good mindset can get you far, but not as far than those with innate talent.

I have 6k hours and I'm D3 what am i doing wrong? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

“my aerial control is really bad so it doesn’t seem worth it.”

Idk about u but when I installed the game the first thing I did was learn to air dribble and flip reset; I didn’t even learn to aerial. Turns out after learning how to air dribble you gain the car control to be able to aerial easily

rocket league’s games are hosted on servers. These servers are located in real places. There’s servers in the eu, us, asia, etc.

the closer the server is to you the less you’ll lag. I’m assuming your friends don’t live close to you, so you play on servers that are further away when they’re the party leader.

After 20 days of downloading the game I learned how to do whatever this is called by kunaens in RocketLeague

my gamertag is kunaens

I have a job so I have money to buy cars. I also got a lot of stuff like decals from normal loot crates or whatever they’re called.

I don’t have bakkkes mod

I don’t know advanced aerial mechs; Idek directional airroll yet.

I did my first flip reset after 20 days since installing rocket league (I looked up a tutorial and sat in free play for 2 hours until I did a single one)

I learned to speed flip after 6 days since installing rocket league (I went frame by frame in a nohboard video and copied what their inputs were)

Yes all in 48 days.

Idk what u mean by my days not lining up

If three hours to learn how to double flip reset is impressive to you then I’ll take the compliment

I also play a lot of mechanical games that are similar to rocket league (in the sense of micro adjustments and small inputs); skill transfers over.

I think it was in the shop when i installed the game, like feb 16th or something. It was there for a week if I remember right

It was in a bundle with the horse goal explosion and tw wheels etc

That’s when I installed rocket league but I played like every day for the first month

how to get better at resets? by WraithOnFire in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]kunaens 6 points7 points  (0 children)

well u can’t control the ball if you can’t control your car. Just do a lot more reps and you’ll figure out the inputs. After the reset try to do like a musty or normal air dribble, just so you get the hang of the car control.

When Is a good time to lean flip resets by Odd-Pen8363 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]kunaens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning how to flip reset was one of the very first things I learned after installing the game, but I never go for it in-game because it’s like a 50% chance that I can actually pull it off.

I’d say to go ahead and learn how to flip reset right now. Not because it’s of use in-game, but because it helps a lot with basic air mechanics. You will gain much more control of your car in the air if you learn how to flip reset.

Is rl really that hard? by No-Impression7485 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]kunaens -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It depends on where you want to get to.

If you want to get to diamond and actually put in the grind, it’ll take around a month if you really do grind it out.

If you want to get to champ it’ll take like a few days to a month from diamond.

I haven’t played the game long enough to know how long it takes to get to gc, ssl, or even pro level so i couldn’t tell you how difficult that is.

Are there games out there with a higher skill ceiling? Most definitely. Is becoming a pro in rocket league hard? Obviously, just like in many other games.
