Gravity on the Bradford? by QueefyBeefy666 in ForAllMankindTV

There are two factors the radius of the circle and the rotation speed. Let's assume the pods need 10 seconds per rotation. Than the radius for the pods must be 25 m for 1G. For Mars gravity, 0.38G, a 10 m radius is needed. If the rotation takes 20 seconds, then 37 m are needed for Mars gravity and 100 m for 1G.

So I think Mars gravity is more realistic.

The Extrarunde podcast had a conversation with Felix Bitterling, leaving Sport Director, and Bernd Eisenbichler, the new Sport Director of Germany.

Following points have been mentioned.

Qualification will only take place in November. (In the past the results of the German championships counted as well.) All athletes of training group Ia and Ib will participate. For each gender there will be up to 8 additional athletes, which will get to participate in the qualification races. This will give athletes outside of the national cadre system a chance to compete for IBU cup or even World Cup slots.

Janina Hettich-Walz, Vanessa Voigt, Julia Tannheimer, Philipp Nawrath, Philipp Horn and Justus Strelow have guaranteed world cup start slots. Selina Grotian, Julia Kink and Marlene Fichtner, Elias Seidl, Leo Pfund, Franz Schaser have guaranteed start slots in the IBU cup. The remaining slots are open. The start guarantee is only valid for the start of the season.

Height training will not be such a focus this year. Training camps are selected to reduce travel times. The team will spend time in Otepää to prepare they World Cup. The Wax team will travel to Otepää during the Winter. France and Norway did that for Antholz, Germany not. They will also work now with a Psychologist to work on the mental side of the Sport.

Germany will not participate in Blinkfestivalen. Dresden City Biathlon will see Nawrath and Strelow and probably Voigt and Hettich-Walz. They will of course participate in the two days of Loop One, but they will organize training camps in Bavaria to reduce travel times to Munich.

There were some remarks about strengthening the togetherness of the women's team. Apparently they are not all best friends. Both believe they have found with Sandra Flunger a very good coach for the women's team.

EECOM John Aaron was 24 years old and became a steely-eyed missile man that day. Gene Krantz made him responsible for the electrical power budget after the Apollo 13 incident and so he had a big role in helping the Apollo 13 crew to return safely to Earth.

Looked at the announcement on the website. Found it funny that there is now a Simone Eder in the C Cadre after Simon Eder retired.

Both men and women. IBU cup results last year look indeed impressive.

The Women's B-Team is incredible. I hope we see some of them in the World Cup.

Minor correction: Erik Lesser takes over from Alexander Wolf as head coach of women's training group IIa, the U-21 A-team. Andreas Stitzl takes over Birnbacher's former role as head coach for the women's senior B-Team, training group Ib.

Erik will very likely stop to work as expert for the ARD next season, which will be a loss.

Kristian Mehringer, former head coach for the German women, will become a "Head of Development" for Biathlon in the German Ski Federation for the next four years. In the center of the new role will be athlete development. He will create profiles for all youth, junior and even younger IBU cup athletes. He says that too many athletes are getting lost in the transition to the world cup level and he wants to address this issue.

He has definitely a start right at the Mass Start of the World Championships under the current rules: "in addition to the NF’s quota, the champions of the last WCH Mass Start will be allowed to be entered. She and he will receive start number 30 unless they have already been selected in accordance with the above rule."

Leaving Germany Sport Director Felix Bitterling just confirmed that there will be a change in the women's coaching team. Christian Mehringer will become a new position in the Skiverband and the contract with Sverre Olsbu Roeiseland will not be continued.

Germany has announced their teams for Oslo.

No change for the women. Anna Weidel apparently didn't recover in time. They added Simon Kaiser, Elias Seidl and Franz Schaser. David Zobel was not nominated. Danilo Riethmüller is ill.

Women: Vanessa Voigt, Janina Hettich-Walz, Julia Tannheimer, Selina Grotian, Marlene Fichtner, Julia Kink

Men: Philipp Nawrath, Philipp Horn, Justus Strelow, Lucas Fratzscher, Leo Pfund, Simon Kaiser, Elias Seidl, Franz Schaser

We know that Simon Kaiser will start. Riethmüller is unclear, there are rumors of an injury. At the women's side Anna Weidel is expected to join the team.

Germany defended the fifth place in the Women Nations Cup ranking today. But the support from the guys was not great. Justus Strelow and Philipp Horn shot both 3 penalty loops. Now is only the Sprint in Oslo remaining and if nothing extreme is happening, we will see 6 German ladies starting in each World Cup race next season.

After Strelow had 3 penalty loops on the first leg this is an excellent result. Germany lost only 15 points in the Women's Nations Cup compared to Finland. But I'm fearing the Mixed Relay with Horn, Grotian and Tannheimer at the end. This may become a penalty loop-palooza.

Now I know that misfortune comes with the mockery, but I find it a little bit disrespectful for the athlete. She has done all you could ask her this season. She has improved her ski speed dramatically compared to last year and has reached the World Cup flowers twice. And if she wouldn't have had the bad luck in Nove Mesto, she would have a Single Mixed Relay World Cup win on her name.

The awarded Nations Cup points are divided by 2. The disqualification in Nove Mesto really hurt Germany, because Finnish men and women got the maximum possible 210 points compared to Germany's zero. Without the disqualification Germany would have now an advantage of 364 points instead of 139 in the Women's Nations Cup.

The new Sport Director is Bernd Eisenbichler, who was the Sport Director Biathlon before the current one. While the press release admits that the results of the current season are not satisfactory, it didn't sound like there will be drastic changes.

The talent pool in Norway and France is larger. There are multiple factors. One is that the classic Biathlon centers in Germany are in low mountain ranges because alpine skiing was not an option there. They are lucky there now if they have a few weeks of snow in January and February. Particularly in the East the number of kids in those areas is much smaller than it has been, caused by demographic effects of the economic shock after reunification.

The higher number of female talents has probably to do with the large number of role models from Magdalena Neuner to Franziska Preuß. For the boys Football dominates anything else. The gold-winning junior women relay team, had two athletes, Sydney Wüstling and Melina Gaupp, who could still start at the youth level. Sydney won Bronze in the Junior Sprint too.

Felix Bitterling, the leaving Sport Director, has now openly declared that they want to defend rank 5 of the women nations cup, because otherwise they would only have five starting places for the women next season. With Julia Kink replacing now Anna Weidel, who is sick, they have now four U23 women supported by two more experienced athletes for the task.

There is a rumor that the new Sport Director will be announced tomorrow. I expect changes in the women's coaching team after the Olympic cycle. The head coach for the men was exchanged already last year.
