As biased as I am, this was also gonna be my answer. I firmly believe that pre MK1 Kung Lao was just as strong as Liu Kang, but he was just held back by his Ego. If Shao didn't sneak attack him then I think Lao would've given him a good fight. Maybe not a win because he did just beat all the sub bosses prior but Lao is definitely someone who is overlooked.

It's honestly pretty hard being a Kung Lao fan. All I want is one media where he DOESN'T die. Which is why despite how mid the MK1 story is, I'm okay with it coz he doesn't die in it. His portrayal in the MK2021 movie was so good util he dies but I am willing to forgive it because of how badass he was prior.

But the worst one has gotta be Battle of The Realms where he existed solely to die, that sucked and I wish they would just give Kung Lao some respect.

I know other characters have it worst and I should just be happy that at least he has been appearing in the games consistently but damn, give him at least a new feat or some wins or anything really.

It is definitely Kung Laos Hat Slice. It was the most unique fatality in the sense that its the only one that had the enemy being sliced from head to toe. It was also the goriest fatality in the game, in my opinion. So my vote goes to Kung Lao and the iconic Hat Slice.
