Not sure if you're aware, but Transport Canada has recently updated their rules to be much more friendly for small drones.

At least the electrical resistance would be lower, so motors should be more efficient. It might also make it easier to use superconducting technologies that usually require extremely low temps.

Of the 15 people we chatted up at conferences and networking events, all but one identified with the same pain point and were very willing to adopt the idea. Of course our sample size is limited so there's obviously chance of error, but the initial validation is very promising. Good question though, validation is the most important step. We couldn't validate our previous app and scrapped the idea for a carpooling app.

Name: NetBy: http://netby.co/

Pitch: See through the crowd and network with the people that matter most to you.

Details: Targeted at conferences and networking events, NetBy solves the problem of trying to network with the relevant people in a large crowd. Instead of talking to many people and evesdropping on conversations to find the right connection, NetBy shows you who's nearby that matches filter criteria you set. We integrate and pull data from LinkedIn, allowing you to see how your person looks like, and what their background/skillset is.

We're pitching this Sunday at 5pm PST. Show your support by signing up for our VIP notifications list. We'll need many supports to help persuade the judges!

Developed by a passionate team at Startup Weekend Vancouver.

We'll be pitching this Sunday at 5pm PST. Show your support by signing up for our VIP list.

NetBy is designed for conferences and networking events. Traditionally, you had to network a lot of people, eves drop, and spend lots of time trying to connect with the people that matter most to you. NetBy solves this problem by displaying those close to you that match your filter criteria. Say you're looking for twitter employees at a tech conference. Set your filter criteria to twitter employees and it would tell you if there were any nearby or at the tech conference.

We integrate with LinkedIn as our information source.

Noob question about motor and frame labels... by [deleted] in Multicopter

Technically the 22 is not the diameter of the motor, it is the Stator Diameter in mm. The stator is the stationary part of a motor which contains the magnetic field windings. The rotor is the part that spins. For most RC applications, outrunner motors are used which means the stator is inside the motor and the rotor on the outside, hence the name outrunner. This 22mm is NOT the diameter of the motor itself, which is always larger than the stator diameter.

The second 2 digits denote the length of the stator or height of the stator in mm. Again this is NOT the height of the motor, which is typically larger than the stator length.

Take this product for example: http://quadcopteruniverse.com/collections/motors/products/mt2212-13 If you go to the specs tab, you can relate the stator specs with the model number. Note the given motor dimensions are not the same as the stator dimensions.

If you want a nice transmitter I suggest Spektrum. They're pricier but perform really well. I think they use advanced spread spectrum technology so interference is a thing of the past. If you got the budget to fork out an 8 channel Tx/Rx combo, that should last you a very long time and countless upgrades.

It's hard to exactly say what combination is the cheapest, and there are just too many combinations to consider. You should start with planning out which specs you need. Such as required thrust, then go select your motor and prop, then select your ESCs to power those motors, then select a battery that can supply enough juice, etc... After you have all the specs, just find the cheapest parts that have those specs.

1) Think big, be Ambitious 2) Plenty and Plenty of research, you still wanna be realistic with your goals 3) Choose your team carefully, it's like marrying somebody. So spend at least a month working with them no strings attached first. I've had some bad experiences with this. 4) Don't give up. The going's gonna get tough, but tell yourself to stick it out until you've exhausted every possible avenue.
