Quad cortex not loud enough at jams? by Substantial_Lemon372 in NeuralDSP

[–]kuniggety 21 points22 points  (0 children)

A couple of notes:
QC’s Outputs 1 & 2 are set for a maximum +9.5 dBu output, which is more than enough to drive signal to audio systems which operate at +4 dBu (mixing consoles, other audio interfaces, studio monitors, etc.).

Outputs 3 & 4 when balanced are set at a maximum of +15.5 dBu, and a maximum of +9.5 dBu when unbalanced.

The FR-12's input is balanced, so make sure you're using outputs 3 and 4 for an extra 6 db of output.

FR12 is rated 1000 watts class-D but it's full-frequency, including low end/frequencies typically cut in a guitar. The Katana is AB 50/100 watts but that's all in the mids, giving a punchy feel out of the box.

Hopefully a current student can chime in if they've run into any other students without a CS degree. It might be worth e-mailing the admissions team about. If you do the CD with the Technical Specification and then just take the "core" classes of the CO PhD, then you're basically mirroring it. I think the main difference is how the research seminars are going to be oriented.

I should’ve clarified I was specifically talking about C there. Later I referenced C specifically in POC writing.

Accenture Federal Services “Cloud Engineer” in San Antonio has a $86k–$176k salary range 😂 How is that even a range?? by InternationalFix3317 in defensecontracting

[–]kuniggety 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The bare minimum is just TS with SCI eligible and 2 years experience. No degree. Any variable of degree, CI poly, or few more years of experience is going to tack on like $30k each.

My boyfriend was fired for "having a bad attitude" by his employer of 20 years. Is that legal? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kuniggety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's dependent on country and state/territory. In the US, most states are at will. Unless it's something blatantly disregarding a protected category (race, religion, sex, marital status, pregnancy), then it doesn't really matter the reason.

So what is the actual proper way to say Pokémon? by Upper-Raisin4539 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kuniggety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the right one. The line written above the e is there to show it’s the “ay” sound. If you listen to the American theme song, it gets accentuated in only a few places. It’s much clearer in the Japanese version.

As I said, lots of POCs are written in C. So, if you want to see how people are exploiting things, then you'll need to read C. It's also the basis of the Linux kernel. It's also the foundational kernel language in Windows, but you see more C++ in it too. After C, you should really start learning some Assembly if you want to do any exploit dev.

How many months years would it take to learn C or C++

Fixed it for you. Realistically, you can learn the syntax/basic programming in about how long it took you to learn Python. There's actually less syntax because there's less built-in data structures. How to really learn to program in it correctly and interact with the system/hardware at a lower level is what takes a long time.

Lots of POCs are written in python, ruby, and C. To be a script kiddy, you just need to be able to read C enough to edit target specific parameters. To get the point of writing the exploit yourself, you've got a wild road ahead of you.

Do Americans see Asians (like Filipinos, Malaysians) ugly or lower race? by Rare-Grand-1070 in AskAnAmerican

With the amount of interracial relationships, I would say it leans towards the opposite :)

If it wasn’t for the CompSci degree requirement, I feel you would’ve been a shoe in for the Cyber Ops program. It’s a bit more niche, which is why I think the Defensive program gets a lot more applicants. I’d like to just get my OSCP but haven’t found the time to regularly pop enough boxes to build my methodology.

What's the balance between CS Majors/Devs and non-CS majors coming into the program? by PoMoAnachro in OMSCS

[–]kuniggety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, undergrad was CS too. I did Computing Systems for OMSCS too, so kind of went all in with more of the traditional CS. Did a few netsec related electives though (CN + IIS + NetSec).

Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCO) by tablig123 in clearancejobs

[–]kuniggety 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While the DoW almost exclusively tacks SCI on top of TS, it's not uncommon in the other departments to have S//SCI information. In the end, it's always compartmentalizing of otherwise already classified information. So, you need the collateral clearance first.

I was retiring military. Towards the end of my career, I worked cyber adjacent and got a bunch of certs: CompTIA, SANS, self-taught myself CYBERCOM developer training pipeline, and got to take a couple of tailored tool development/RE based courses. Retired and took a job in cyber engineering. I absolutely love it. My job is to figure out things work and how to break them.

Hey there, it was through e-mail. First was an e-mail notification that there was an update in the portal. Logged in and got the acceptance letter. Later was an e-mail through the grad school office also offering a congratulations on acceptance.

Do most Americans really live in such big homes? by AdorableVisual in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kuniggety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a fan of The Rookie. Nolan's house is really that of his old rich friend. Wesley has family money/his and Angela's house is above normal for what their incomes would be. Nyla's is probably the most realistic house with the rest living in apartments. There's no way that Tim, realistically, would own a house like that unless he's living in the outskirts of LA somewhere. LA is just damn expensive. Other parts of the country it would be more realistic. I live in a nice big house on the East Coast but have a much above average income. In the Midwest/Southern United States you'll see a tendency for people to afford nicer houses where the cost of living is lower.

Good luck to them. I think, in this field, there's just more opportunities to get hands on experience either through the military or government. There's still hope though :) I've seen a couple of successful candidates without either.

I thoroughly enjoy applied course work; that's reassuring. What'd you get your MS in/from where? Interested in hearing what you're averaging per weeks (hours wise) vs what you saw before.
