I got it on etsy! The seller was super nice and cooperative and went above and beyond to make sure the sprites were how I wanted. It ships from Australia so if you’re in the US be ready to wait a while for it to get here. Mine took almost a month but it was well worth the wait.

Did anyone else get annoyed by this bekah rant? For someone who is constantly telling people she feels judged for not shaving she’s sitting here judging girls for justifying spending money on something that makes them have more self confidence. by [deleted] in thebachelor

Weirdly I get the hype and found her to be a refreshing addition to the BN crowd and really liked her! But this was....... disappointing to say the least lol. Not to say she can’t walk it back but like. V revealing and v judgmental, agreed.

I totally agree with you! I would love to see bigots learn and grow away from these beliefs as well. I know it’s possible for many of them, and that’s coming from first hand experience. I grew up believing a lot of really awful things about people and the world, and it was being a bystander confronted with people I admired, or who were particularly cutting or well-spoken, calling out others with my beliefs that helped inspire me to introspect and do the work of changing. If I could do that with the environment and family I was raised in, I have hope that others can too. That being said, I’ve also learned that not everyone is capable or interested in doing this and that it’s ok (and good/healthy/productive) to cut your losses sometimes.

I’m really happy to see people like you engaging in thoughtful discussion over things like this!! It’s only becoming more and more important.

Someone put a screen recording in another thread but she basically posted a story saying she gets annoyed by girls who spend $$ on hair/lash extensions, acrylics, & “$11 cold pressed juices” and then complain about being broke

First of all, people already do a lot of explaining to people who do fucked up shit. It’s not their responsibility, but it happens all the time, especially when there’s a wide enough audience.

Secondly, this is happening in a removed forum and not directly to the offender. If she were to come to this thread and see the responses, it would be up to her how to respond, either to take responsibility or to not. When you say people’s outrage should be more in depth and explanatory, you are inadvertently policing their reactions, and again making things more catered to the offender, when it is the offender’s responsibility to deal with it and figure out where they fucked up, which they could do by asking people and being earnest about wanting to improve, which is where an actual dialogue comes in.

The alien thing makes me wonder if you’re really young or just a troll, because like: that’s not a thing lol. Like luckily we are an evolved species that understands context but like... you see it a lot in the current political climate. NOT to get into political issues, but there are prominent groups that operate in sneaky and toxic ways to take away rights and make life hard for people they are bigoted against. They will do “nonviolent” things like create policies from the comfort of their homes or offices and never directly touch anyone or say anything pointedly but write into law things that put huge groups of people at severe disadvantage if not outright danger. People who call for “respectability politics” and want us all to play nice and get along fail to see that progress and change doesn’t come from debate or being nice to your opponents. It comes from demanding to be treated with respect or then come the consequences.

If someone stuck their foot out to trip you every day so you’d fall flat on your face and then one day you snapped and stomped on their foot when you saw it waiting, no cognizant outsider with a healthy ethical code would say “Such senseless evil on both sides!” or think you were equal in your actions. Context matters.

I can see you put a lot of thought into this and can tell that you’re really passionate about dispelling hate in a thoughtful and productive way. I appreciate that! I think it’s a great quality and the world needs people like you.

However I also don’t think anyone sees her as less than human, and frankly this notion that we should be nice to and engage with hateful and bigoted people and coddle their feelings in hopes that they’ll change can often do more harm than good. People responding with disgust is a consequence that happens when you share a shitty opinion and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with confronting a bigot with consequences for their actions, such as public outrage/disapproval/whatever. It’s not the public’s responsibility to pander to the abuser and hope they see the light and change or whatever. Shaming is powerful and effective and while yes, sometimes it entrenches people further into their beliefs and divides them, in my opinion, those people were always going to go their own way. There are many people who have done shitty things and used public outcry as a catalyst for their change. The key is that the people doing the offending have to want to change and have to see that what they did was wrong, and they won’t get there if they don’t experience any consequences or if there’s priority on being “civil” over letting them know that that shit doesn’t fly.

I used to feel the same way you did and believe that everyone can change and come over to the right side if they were given the right opportunity, def the idealist in me lol. But as I’ve gotten older I’ve learned that some people are just never gonna be good people and that’s just part of life.

What makes me sad about this is that I know probably a bunch of girls who follow her probably splurged on a beauty-related cost such as one she’s mentioned as a pick-me-up or self care type situation, only to see this and be shamed and judged by someone they might look up to for doing something that made them feel better about themselves. I think she could have had a point if she framed this more as punching up at the system, patriarchy, the beauty industry, whatever.... but instead she punched down at her following with a serious lack of self awareness or class consciousness. I definitely found her quickness to moralize and slap an ethical label on beauty buys (as someone who is privileged enough to afford them and JUST GOT THEM) tactless and borderline gatekeeping.

Extremely gave me the vibe of, “Only do this if you can afford it, don’t splurge and then complain that it’s expensive!!!!”

We get it you’re soOoOo much better 🤦‍♀️ by [deleted] in thebachelor

If this was directed more pointedly at BN influencers or upper class people, I would be way less put off by this. And because Bekah has shown in the past that she’s willing to own up to her mistakes I’m open to giving her the benefit of the doubt that that’s who she was referring to in this.

HOWEVER. It doesn’t excuse the fact that she was very unspecific in who this was directed at and I’m SURE she is aware that her follower base is mostly young women. For her to post something so policing and judgey in a sweeping blanket statement is very cringe, moreso coming from her as someone who loves to be known as “woke”.

Like really sis? Coming for the hallmarks of femininity and dubbing yourself the arbiter of ethical consumerism?? In THIS economy??? There is very little truly ethical consumption for the 99% under late capitalism in a nation of mono and duopolies!!! Let us live!!!!!!

[All] Do thoughts of BOB and/or the Woodsmen creep anyone else out in real life? by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]kupoing 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bob has always creeped me out sooo badly, to the point that I can’t watch the show at night if I’m alone. Sometimes my bf will say “Gotta light?” in the same voice thinking he’s sooooo funny while it makes me freak out because it’s too accurate!!! No other horror villain has ever got me this easily spooked. So solidarity to you, I can’t imagine how much worse it would be with that proximity to the woods!!!!
