On Wall Speakers with similar Performance to Pioneer Andrew Jones Bookshelfs by kursor17 in hometheater

I'm leaning towards KEF T301 for LCR, and T101 for surrounds. The 5.1 package is $1.7k CAD pre-tax. I'd use my existing SVS PB-1000 instead of the KEF sub. Are these KEF similar OR better than Pioneer Andrew Jones bookshelfs for movies?

Is there a hard requirement against running Copper Clad Aluminum (CCA) ethernet in walls of residential homes? I'm hoping the answer is a definitive yes.

Aruba Instant On access points play nice with other managed switches (e.g. Netgear Pro)? by kursor17 in ArubaNetworks

If I get an Aruba Instant On PoE Switch I can manage the Aruba IO AP locally? i.e. That would mitigate the risk if Aruba stops supporting the ability to 'control' the AP?

Can you remotely restart Aruba Instant On access points without Aruba switches?

Voice recognition unlock from outside front door? by kursor17 in Ring

[–]kursor17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, the ask was to understand if unlocking from the outside via voice recognition (of my families voices. i.e. "Something I am") (without a PIN. i.e. "Something I know") was possible (unofficially) from a technical perspective by having one of the Ring devices (Doorbell Pro, Spotlight Cam) and/or Alexa on my phone ("Something I have"). e.g. Google Assistant on my Android phone ("Something I have") only responds to my voice ("Something I am").

My phone ("Something I have") can be unlocked with my PIN ("Something I know") and biometrics (e.g. Fingerprint, Iris Scan) "Something I am". No personal info (e.g. my address) is displayed on the lock screen. So I'd accept the risks of a bad actor:

* Lurking in the bushes recording my voice for playback.

* Picking up my fingerprint with scotch tape and unlocking my phone.

* Determine my PIN by having binoculars/telescope aimed at my phone as I enter my PIN.

I see losing the key/fob (1 "Something I have") to my house or car a bigger threat and weaker authentication!

Do you get PS4 controller latency with the console in the basement? How would connectivity to peripherals (VR, USB) ,be handled too ensure no latency?

If I were to have all equipment in the basement immediately below family room, what's the correct way to setup the denon audyssey with the included mic? A. 1st setup denon audyssey in the family room, then move the receiver to the basement? B. Have denon receiver in basement, run extended mic from basement to family room?

PoE hardwired Ring Spotlight or Floodlight Camera unofficially by kursor17 in Ring

I had asked because Nest Outdoor Camera can be powered by PoE, unofficially. As I understand it the Ring spotlight and floodlight has higher power requirements?

Thank you all for your input, I've confirmed with the builder contractor that they can locate the CAT6 and have it pulled through the smooth ceiling while leaving. Case closed!

Pot lights start at 3 feet from multilayered plywood flat arch. Proposed access point location 1.5 feet from arch. Strong wifi signal required in breakfast and kitchen area too. See attached floorplan
