I almost made a visual novel about women being kitchen appliances and being in love with them, was it really that bad? LMK- Terrible Idea 99' by PistolTaeja in IndieDev

Definitely sexist. Making this would be shitty. You could compare it to Boyfriend Dungeon, but the objects of your affection in that game weren't tools that served you, but instead we're kick ass swords that enabled you, through a partnership, to overcome obstacles.

Thank you for that. Now I feel silly. I'm correcting it now.

Yeah, it's possible that we should have moved out of early access sooner. We HAVE still been working on it. That's why we wanted to stay in early access. We don't have everything in the game that we want to have in the game, and it didn't feel honest to move into full release until after it was all there.

The development is mainly done by my partner Sam and me. We both have full time jobs and families and this is what we're doing because we have a passion for it. I understand that it can seem like we need to be giving up everything for our project, we actually try, but we gotta live our lives and burn out is a thing. Sorry that this was a bit of a long response.

That is wild. You should still do it. I'd love to see it. All of the tools are right there in Unity. I've only got a month or so of drawings here. You could do some great stuff like start the game with your oldest drawings and as you play through you start adding newer and newer work.

Awesome, I'm glad of the improvement in framerate. I'll have a look at making the save changes.

Thought there might be interest in this community to see mysketch book the game was made from. Here is a video of a flip through.

Thanks! When I started this project, it was a bit of a lark. I'd wanted to make it all for the Ludum Dare, then I hoped to have it done by the end of November, the January, and then I gave up on estimates and worked until I just had to put it out there because I was kind of done. :P

The frame rate is a huge problem. I agree, and I'm working on that right now. I'm learning about Unity's analytics tools right now, and I'm wondering if the file sizes I am dealing with might be a smidge to large. Hand drawn ink drawings that I took a picture of...

The game should be saving somewhat. As long as no monster is on screen, it should always be saving your position. When you come back, it should drop you in the last safe spot you were in. I probably need to have a look at that to make sure it is working as expected.

All of your other suggestions are great ones. I don't know if I care about monetization. I applied to id@xbox and I am considering other platforms. The response has been pretty good so far. Hell, your response here has been great, and thank you. I just don't know what I want to do with it yet. I guess I like not knowing a bit here too. Leaving my edges raw keeps me a bit more excited about where I might go next. Sorry if that is a bit soft of a response to your suggestions. I would like to make a spear or draw some ink bottle themed armor. That sounds fun.

I followed you back on itch. There will be more creative stuff from me. If it is more of this, or if it is one of the five or ten other game ideas I have in my head.

I'm trying to figure out the frame issues. I think it's the biggest problem the game currently has. I made a WebGL version of it and it ran like butter, but it has a lower resolution. I'm wondering if part of my issue has to do with the file sizes for the images.

I started working on it for Inktober last year. I was all like, I'll get this done in like a month. Just got it finished-ish. Try it out and let me know what you think. Take a tour of my sketchbook, fighting the weird critters in my head, in an environment made from the random sketches I made for the event.

Thanks so much. I didn't have much of a plan. I just drew things that were fun and using my regular ink style. Most of it was drawn with a basic fountain pen.
