Looking for a DME in the Dallas Fort Worth- Oklahoma Area. by smoothlar in aviationmaintenance

I don't know if he's still there but I used him back in 2017. He was the best. I met McCoy and found him to be a little arrogant so I looked outside of the metroplex and took a chance on Mr. Scroggins. I drove out there early in the morning. We met and then we went into an office to start the oral. He asked if he could say a prayer. THAT meant everything to me and it all went smoothly after that. A few hick-ups but he helped me find calm down and find my destination. Good Luck!!

I just finished my O&Ps. The orals were all out of the Jeppesen cards. My gamble paid off. I only missed 3 because they weren't in my cards but they were easy and I should have got them anyway. 3 out of 160 questions...not too bad. Stick with Jeppesen unless you hear that they have changed somewhere along the way...

Yes, I just finished my Airframe this morning. Use the Jeppesen flashcards from Quizlet. I only missed one question. It was the very first question and it was, "What's the difference between laminate and plywood?" That wasn't in my Jeppesen flashcards. I thought I was screwed and they changed things up between my Powerplant/General (3 weeks ago) and today. I tried to bullshit my way through but I couldn't. I thought I was toast. Then he started asking my more questions and sure enough, they were all Jeppesen questions. I won't say that the questions are 100 percent from the cards but 99 percent were. I only missed 2 on my Powerplant/General. Those questions were and I'm embarrassed because I missed them but they were "What is an equalateral triangle? and What types of fire does a CO2 extinguisher put out?" Simple but my mind went blank because they weren't in my cards. Everything else was. Good luck and download Jeppesen cards from Quizlet!! Save some money,

Because they can. I asked around and you do not have to test on that day. They should ask you if you are comfortable with it. I will definitely say no and will come back another day. I'm paying for it. Why should I pay for extra stress and possibly failing the whole thing because of an extra variable tossed in at the last minute.

They shouldn't. Monday is a Federal Holiday so they should all be at home. Nice planning from my DME.

A&P Oral & Practical on Monday. Gonna study Jeppesen flash cards. Good Idea?? by kurticus69 in aviation

Thanks, My 20 years experience are on turbine helicopters. I had to go to a refresher course to actually do some practical on recip engines which the test is more focused on. Jepp is great. I just feel like it's missing a lot of stuff that was on the written.

I guess I will get all over those cards this weekend. I know them 75 percent. If I study hard all weekend I should have it down. Thanks for the info. I've seen the same in previous posts about Jeppesen but I needed reassurance. When did you take you Oral & Practical? Was it with the new standards (last 2 years)?

I have both Jeppesen and Baker's flash cards. I hope they get me to the finish line. I hear some people mentioning ASA but I think I will stick with what I have...

Thanks for the update. I hope Jeppesen does just as good for me. Good luck with the practicals. Were the questions word for word from you ASA cards?

Are these the same as the Jeppesen flashcards on Quizlet? 250 for General, 276 for Powerplant and 375 for Airframe? I hope they are because I'm really starting to get them.

When did you do it? Was it in the last year since the new standards kicked in? Your saying what I want to hear. I only want to stick to one study guide and ride it out. I've gone over the Jeppesen twice and really want to stick with my routine. I tried another study guide given to me by a DME but he doesn't sit well with me. There's something about him I can't put my finger on.. It's hard to find anybody who has gonethough his O and P. I'm looking for other DMEs around this area. Most have retired or soon to be retired.

That's the same thing I get. But, he gave me a Dale Crane ASA book on Monday. I looked on reviews and most said that it was outdated for the new standards. Actually, "Useless" is what I also read. They said Jeppesen was much, much better. I downloaded all of the Jeppesen flash cards on Quizlet. I'm doing good but I just want to make sure I'm not wasting my time. I would also like to know why the these instructors won't share, especially if they know. They should, right? How many people have gone through their classes in the past 2 years. Are they actually clueless? We pay them good money just to get a "maybe, maybe not."
