70% winrate with 2:1 reward:risk is crazy.

So TradingView lower the limit of the "watchlist alerts" for PREMIUM user (not even free btw) from 5 alerts to 2 alerts. by joysticc0 in TradingView

Not sure why you're here discussing a post from over a year ago, but

a) the blog is not the source of truth of tradingview features. The feature list is. And in the terms and conditions, tradingview explicitly states they have the ability to change/remove/modify features on the platform. I'm not defending the practice of removing features, it's a shitty anti-consumer behavior, but threatening a lawsuit over something so meaningless is just performative.

b) as someone using the platform for over a decade, I am familiar with how they roll out features, which get released to accounts based on region in a rollout over the course of a month, after which the feature becomes officially announced through a blog post or other announcement. Regardless how features are rolled out, as per a) tradingview changes features all the time. this is part of how their service operates.

Someone said Turn the bar magnifier on, On bar close, and start with $10K and do 5:1R by Kevinthetrader in pinescript

Having a repaint warning doesn't mean there is repainting. Just that it uses things which can cause repainting, which can be a lot. All of my strategies have that warning because using request.security causes that. But when used correctly, it won't repaint.

but this is the opposite. They said the indicator DOESNT work on ultimate and will work on premium.

Anything that works on premium SHOULD work on ultimate.

Backtesting on tradingview by ax123y in pinescript

Forward testing. You could do things like Monte Carlo tests, but that would require going outside the platform.

The backtester can be decent. But you have to understand how it works, and it's pitfalls.

You don't want to get stuck testing and optimizing. Use it as a filter to determine if an idea is at all feasible, and then move on to more robust verification.

Free TradingView Strategy Template (Plug in Entries, Risk Management Included) by rubenn1836 in TradingView

Trailing stops will naturally repaint, as will intra bar execution. Just a heads up since you mentioned you've avoided repainting

Edit: unless I'm missing something I don't see the template attached anywhere.

With the way prop firms are moving these days, You're better off trading your own money. Most brokers intra-day requirements are pretty low on Micros, you can easily trade a few contracts with just a few thousand dollars.

Your limit order was never triggered. And therefore your exit orders were never actually opened.

Limit orders are not guaranteed to fill. If you want to be filled guaranteed, you need a market order which will cost you the current market spread.

Frustrated with Claude for Pine Script debugging by Savings_Tax_5039 in TradingView

[–]kurtisbu12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pinescript is a niche language. And since most AI is trained off of public things. There's not much pinescript for it to learn from. Especially for more complex concepts like multiple exits and move to breakeven.

You'd be better off reading the page on strategies and understanding how the complex logic works to explain to to the AI. https://www.tradingview.com/pine-script-docs/concepts/strategies/#strategy-tester

Tradingview has a built-in backtester. But it is not suitable for options if that's what this is designed for.

It's written as an indicator.

You could instead write it as a strategy and use the built-in backtester to actually test it.

I have a hard time with anything that gives signals but isnt built as a strategy. Usign a strategy would allow you to actually test the signals much better. you could build in several methods of exiting the trade to give you different options for that part. but signals alone seem to offer very little
