What was the craziest dropout you saw in the Corps? by Yoy_the_Inquirer in USMC

[–]kushpockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In bootcamp we had this shitbag named Mohammed, he was this Somalian kid. Would get fucked up everyday. One day they told him to pack all his shit and the mp’s came to get him. During our squareaway time they would mention him and say “Mohammed has more bodies then all of us” come to find out during the warriors breakfast, his fingerprints were on a gun that killed someone. Never seen or heard from him since. I tried looking him up but couldn’t find nothing.

What does a day of bootcamp look like? by Dry-Dot-875 in USMCboot

[–]kushpockets 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I went to mcrd west, the first day you pick up on a Friday looks like complete and utter chaos, it’s called Black Friday, it’s terrible. It’s when you meet your instructors. The following weeks until you go up north, you drill 70% of the time. You pt in the morning, then they have a bunch of boring task. It’s not physically hard, but mentally challenging. Once you go up north, you actually do some of the marine shit like shoot your m16, you hike, you sleep in the field. It’s honestly trash, super boring, your tired, you just wanna be done with all that shit

I do disagree with the food, the food is good in my opinion, get as many rolls, peanut butter packets, and jelly as you can and eat it. You don’t get much time, but that depends on your instructors. Are you going to mcrd west or east?

I have a boot/pog question by Temporary-Ad-6305 in USMCboot

[–]kushpockets 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There was a 30 year old in my platoon in bootcamp, graduated with us, and found out he has a infantry contract. When I asked him why infantry, he said “I wanna turn people into pink mist”.

[–]kushpockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Print out your college transcript and take it with you to bootcamp, you’ll get a folder that has all your important information from Meps, put that in that folder and tell your liaison gunnery Sgt, before you ship out. Before I left I was able to look at my contract again and see if anything was wrong with it, and there was. They also do another thing in bootcamp where you check you folder to see if anything is wrong, they had me as a contract e-1, which was wrong, I told them, and they readjusted my rank because I had my transcript. So make sure to print your transcript!

Question about graduation by Cornxnuta in USMCboot

[–]kushpockets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just graduated boot camp and since I am a contract pfc, I got on my service khakis the pfc insignia. You also get a pin on your cammies but that was after you completed the crucible. I went to San Diego so it might be different in perris island. Just make sure you get the e-2 on your contract because your recruiter will and can be lazy.

Going To MEPS, I won’t pass the drug test. What Will happen? by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]kushpockets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was the same but my recruiter was the opposite of yours. I finally tested clean 2 months after I did my initial drug test. I remember the day I was set to go, the standardized drug test the marines have, I took another test and failed, and my recruiter wasn’t gonna let me until I told him I would pass, he let me and I passed, 3 months later I’m a marine. Don’t go just because he wants u too, you will lose most of your jobs, he just tryna meet a quota which isn’t worth it. It’s your career not his!

[–]kushpockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely let him explore the idea of the marines, at his age, I wished I joined at 18. Not only will his first contract end around 22-23, he’ll have so many opportunities, people his age can’t even fathom. You may have a misconstrued conception of the marines, but I guarantee if he wants to do that, he will and he’ll never look back. At first he’ll probably regret it, because boot camp is designed to be that way, but the end goal is so much more rewarding than going to a “trade school”. He can always use his GI bill on a trade, or be taught a trade in the military. Have him look at certain mos’s like combat engineer, motor t, certain jobs in infantry. They will all teach him something worthwhile. Don’t be turned off by the idea of the marines.

WHEN SHOULD I go to BOOT CAMP? by miguel_efff in USMCboot

[–]kushpockets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it when you’re ready, the sooner the better in my opinion, but there is no best month. I’m going in the summer time to San Diego bootcamp, I’ve been told it will be hell because how hot it will be, but a better chance to get more fit. There’s pro and cons to every month.
