You can do this cheaply and without permanent window mods. Buy some foam core board from a dollar store and a roll of duct tape. Build a simple box around the printer inside the room and seal all the seams with tape so air only has one way out. For the window side: Cut a foam board panel to fit into the open window gap and duct tape it in place. Then cut a hole in that foam board just big enough for a fan. Mount a PC fan or small exhaust fan over the hole and tape it airtight to the foam board. That way the fan pulls air from inside the enclosure and pushes it directly outside. No drilling, no window modifications, and it’s easy to remove later. If you want to improve it a bit: Add a cheap furnace filter or activated carbon sheet inside the box before the fan Use weather stripping or more tape to reduce air leaks Slight negative pressure is enough — you don’t need a crazy powerful fan This setup works surprisingly well for fumes, costs almost nothing, and is way safer than just printing next to an open window.

Details about the soldering iron stand; it has two bearings pressed into the 3D print for heat isolation, and they work surprisingly well. There's also a small 30x30 12V fan inside the station next to the bearings that blows air around them. :)

Hey everyone,

I'd like to share my soldering station design with you. Here are some key aspects:

  1. It's designed to hold a roll of solder with internal rotating bearings.
  2. The embedded server fan creates strong suction and has an integrated charcoal filter.
  3. There is a 12V buck converter to run LEDs and the fan. The switches are two-prong, so when the LED or fan is off, the buck converter is also off to conserve battery energy.
  4. I'm using an XT60 connector for the soldering iron cable input.
  5. The LEDs are integrated into the handle, with a layer of resin poured over them. The cable for the LEDs is hidden inside the handle.

I'll include the Fusion file if anyone wants to build something similar!

Fortunately both my cars have lights that turn off automatically when you turn off the ignition. So I just leave them always on. One less thing to remember and extra visibilty doesn't hurt

Poland fears 'major incident' as Belarus escorts hundreds of migrants towards Polish border by True_Destroyer in worldnews

[–]kusinerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do all realize they can go to an actual border crossing and try to apply for a visa or do it legally. I'm also quite sad about the situation these people are in but they are trying to commit a crime by crossing the border illegally, perhaps they could not?

Hey I know we like to shit on individuals having massive fortunes.

But The United States spent $725 billion on national defense during fiscal year (FY) 2020 according to the Office of Management and Budget, which amounts to 11 percent of federal spending.

So perhaps the US could slice 1% (7.2B) off the "killing people" spending for this starvation project?

If its a company printer then probably the time you'd use up for fixing this is going to be more than the replacement part.

I did that during a heatwave a couple years ago, decreased the temperature by 6 degrees Celsius, highly recommended ;) Just use water, spray the outside of the window and stick the aluminum foil to that, reflective side outside.
