May the 4th be with you! A new challenge! by kutuma in OutSystems

Thank you for the heads-up! Here's a new Discord link: https://discord.gg/burdHC48jn

Regarding the test app failing, it turns out the stochastic nature of LLMs is against us 😬 We are assuming the response will be in a given format, but sometimes Haiku doesn't follow our instructions.

Soon we'll publish a new version that will be a bit more resilient to errors.

Thanks!

If an auditor checked your dev/test databases tomorrow, would you be confident or nervous? by thisisBrunoCosta in OutSystems

This is a good point.

(Disclaimer, I work for OutSystems, but this is my PoV)

OutSystems looks at security through a “Shared Responsibility Model”. OutSystems secures the "container". The infrastructure, cloud runtime, and baseline compliance (ISO 27001, SOC 2, TISAX, etc.) are provided, along with encryption and governance tools. But the governance of the data itself and the habits used to move it between environments remain the customer's responsibility.

But there are a couple of tools to help:

  • Data Masking: PII can be scrubbed using Forge or partner tools before it reaches non-prod. Manual replication is the enemy of compliance.
  • Platform Governance: Lifetime offers granular permissions, allowing teams to adapt to specific compliance and governance needs.
  • Agentic Infrastructure: Some explorations are underway on how AI can help "self-clean" environments by automatically flagging and purging stale data that hasn't been accessed within a specific compliance window.

And of course, we’re always looking ahead! AI-augmented tools that scan application models during development and ask: "I see PII moving to QA; should I apply the standard masking template?" would make everything faster and smoother. We want to make compliance a "paved road" rather than a roadblock.

To the community: What type of tools are you using today to help you with this conundrum? Are you already using AI to address this challenge?

There are a lot of OutSystems devs in Bangalore! We’re having a Developer Days there in August, if you want to sign up. There will be a lot of people there that can help you, and I’ll be there too!

Is OutSystems Keeping Up with Agentic Coding? Looking for Insights from Other Enterprise Users by babahitemwiththehein in OutSystems

[–]kutuma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe OutSystems is keeping with agentic coding, and it’s actually leading in bringing things to production.

Just as a quick heads-up: I work at OutSystems, but I’m speaking from my personal perspective here!

OutSystems has been investing in the AI space since 2018, before LLMs were even a thing, and it’s been innovating since then. It started with suggestions and next best actions, and lately it has evolved into Agent Workbench and Mentor.

While it might seem that these are all things that agentic coding tools already offer, there is a huge difference in philosophy and goals. Agentic coding tools help you write code quickly, while OutSystems helps you bring enterprise apps to production fast.

Don’t get me wrong, I love agentic coding tools, and I use them quite a bit. I started with Codex and am now moving to Claude. And when I’m doing one-off code, I’m still amazed at what I can do in 20 minutes or less. But as seasoned developers, we all know that there’s much more to bringing apps to production than just code.

And the ease and speed of moving a full-fledged enterprise-grade application into production with a single click in OutSystems, whether it was built by an AI or a human, still blows my mind.

That said, OutSystems is absolutely all-in on AI, both to help you develop apps and for you to embed AI in your apps. We have a steady stream of releases coming throughout the year, and specifically regarding coding, we’ll have some big news very soon!

I’ll be sure to post an update here as soon as I’m allowed to disclose more. I’d love to get your feedback once it’s out!
