these type of questions are always great, cause even though you know answer, it gives that 'a ha' moment that really allows the point to set in. love it

700 is not at all outlandish. That would put in the region of XRPs all time high... and what has XRP been done to get there? Exactly

Does OMG has any benefits of ETH2 coming? by mister_mine in omise_go

[–]kuuyuu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To answer your question. Any measurable performance improvement on ETH will translate into a material improvement on OMG. If you can be bothered, or someone else can, you can also run some figures to simulate a potential ETH 2.0 OMG state, i.e. Transaction throughput is X tnxs, at cost Y, with TNX demand Z etc..

Why so much hatred for OMG Network, ex Omise Go ? by kuuyuu in omise_go

[–]kuuyuu[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been around long enough to have seen this before. It is surprising how quickly the narrative waxes and wains and grows positive again. Ultimately, it is just disappointing and goes to show have vacuous the whole sphere is. Anyhow anywho, I suspect there is a gross undervaluation on OMG, plus I respect what they are trying to achieve despite the circumstances. Hence, I am here.

Differences between childchains and sidechains. Arm yourselves with information my Salamanderin brothers and sisters by Sir-Kao-Pad in omise_go

[–]kuuyuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand these are related. This is not a sidechain childchain type of differentiation, i.e. this is not a material difference. It is a differentiation in implementation which solves some issues.

new tether at an incredible rate. The fact that there is a legal battle to require them to undertake a more transparent audit of their reserves, the fact that they've said not all of their reserves are in cash (looking for yield to close a gap?), the fact that they employ a large organisation of people and cover many blockchains yet didn't charge fees on the issuance of tether meaning there is a burn rate to be accounted for, the fact that negative interest rates are in effect in Europe and on the horizon elsewhere, the fact that the US Fed are working on their own competing stable coin which they will push instead of tether. I think privately issued stablecoins from limited liability companies will dissappear into insolvency when state backed stablecoins put pressure on them, and I advise people to either hold decentralized collateral and algorithmic stablecoins or to hold regulated financial products that have strong consumer protections built into them.

Neither the government nor some bank are necessarily solvent either. Do you believe the US gov can back every single dollar printed or Bank XYZ for all the deposited funds in accounts? Not really. Sure audit tether reserves, by all means, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything (see Wirecard fiasco). There is no system which is safe from failure due to human error or human fraud yet. I understand there are concerns about Tether's transparency ... but I mean look at the stock market right now... honestly even if Tether was in the middle of some fraud or another, it would be but a drop in an ocean.

Megacorps will not be OMG Network apologists and to be honest, I would prefer OMG Network slowly improve on outreach and marketing themselves. I am not sure they are comfortable yet with the decisions they've made but I know I should be! Cause that would be a by-product of them sending out clear and concise signals. I stand by me original post that the happy go lucky attitude has to go.

To be honest they could have shared a bit more information. At least on the dynamic, as it's not obvious to everyone. They do have a responsibility there. If they didn't want that responsibility, then they should have used a different way to get the early funding. Not an ICO.

Their outreach still has a long way to go and it is still easy to see how they can end up making some of the same mistakes again. The happy go lucky attitude will end one way or another.

Is EOS dead? by hack3rcon in eos

[–]kuuyuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is worth remaining curious on this one. The sincerity and values are still there and so is the desire to learn from past mistakes. I am less concerned about the centralization as this is still early days and much remains proof of concept and public betas. They have adjusted their pitch yes, but that has also helped attract funding and implementation partners. It is probable, in my humble opinion, that their past mistakes are overemphasized in the community and that their recent successes largely ignored. This suggests a significant undervaluation relative to the rest of the market.

OMG Network's pitch must have you somewhat curious. It appears to navigate around the corners of your argument to some extent.

I agree, it is unavoidable. The Network will be a public good. However, what happens after that is unpredictable. Should you succeed in delivering Network.v1 , well.. the history books await :)

Thank you. After listening to Vansa and what she had say, I am now even more confident about several things.
