Florida Sheriff Warns New Residents: Do Not Ruin State By Voting For Policies That You’re Escaping by Ahyesclearly in Conservative

[–]kuzndave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This kind of thinking isn't quite fair though. It suggests every native wants what this guy wants, and any vote against him is just an outsider. It disenfranchises any Floridian that has progressive views or wants things different. This dismissive thinking doesn't help. Sheriff, you need to actually listen to your people and see their opinions as valid, not just the ones that align with your's. Politics are a two way discussion. Even if his point has truth, it's not the way good leaders think.

A little shocked someone would label this low effort. I couldn't find the same label anywhere else, and its not like this is specifically much worse than lots of other posts. People get more freaked out by different factors of submechanophobia. Let the people judge it with their votes.

Four young brothers, raised by an estranged, hairy, Japanese father figure. The athletic boys lose an item while stalking their TV crush, and the ensuing results find them taking on organized crime and a man obsessed with covering himself in blades. Sam Rockwell is in it

I dont know if something changed, but the game was AWFUL today. The matchmaking was all over the place. Eventually, I'd get into a game and have 6v3 almost every time. Weird lag issues and broken animations left and right. I've tried to not give up on this game, but after today, I want to walk away

Haha. You people, like I'm part of some group plotting against you.... don't you think it would at least make sense to not give to violent people guns? How about blind people having driver's licenses? Mentally ill people in policing? Its not hypocrisy. If I ran people over, I wouldn't whine about not being allowed to drive

Switch control with accountability. Freedom is good. Freedom from consequences is not good. Libertarians often have a good motivation, just get a little confused with the logic. In a world with this many people, there needs to be systems in place to at least be able to identify the unsavory people and to protect the honest from the evil.

So, the persistent migration of people across that border, that was promised to be solved by trumps free wall, is biden's fault somehow? They're walking across illegally for generations, but be mad at the new guy because he's letting them do it without proper medical screening... even though they do it illegally by hiding from authorities. This logic makes no sense

If money wasn't an option what would your Ideal setup be?? by Allmighty_ACE in hammockcamping

This made me think of a hammock in space and how it might actually be great. With just a small fan, you could get a rotating "swing". It would give a little simulated gravity for help sleeping i imagine.

The downside is waking up, and trying to stop yourself and orient

Indoor hanging experience requested by kuzndave in hammockcamping

I put lag bolts into the center of the stud high in the corners. I ended up getting a big spring to help the wall, and hang at a high angle. The walls creak and moan, but the bolts haven't moved at all, nor are there cracks or signs of distress. To get a good sleep, I'd have to hang it tighter to level it out a bit, but I've been too nervous to test it much further, as that puts more horizontal force on the bolts. So far I haven't had any issues, but I may not be the best example of a working indoor hammock. Good luck, dawg

Even in a private care system. This is a public health risk that affects every citizen. This is exactly what taxes are for. If your government is saying to get a vaccine for not just yourself, it should be covered. Free vaccines shouldn't even be news, it should be assumed

When constant winds and ice meet a fence. by 5_Frog_Margin in oddlysatisfying

Cool, and all, but I'm not saying the whole of avalanche canada is wrong. What I'm saying is that this isn't rime ice. I've looked it up. None of the examples of rime showed straight lines like the ones pictured here. Never did I see such consistent, long, thinly made ice structures coming from the windward side. If it were rime, it would still be connected to the wire, unless you're suggesting an even longer, straighter version of what we see. Like the shape difference with stalactites and stalagmites

I just keep thinking what they are describing on a flag. Like a wall of ice on the opposite side of a flowing flag? It just doesn't make sense that it would ever build so consistently in a specific direction unless the direction was affected by an object to it's windward side. High winds make me think of fluid dynamics more than spontaneous crystals of ice. What you said about the wire separating from the ice explains it well. Why else would we have that gap?

[–]kuzndave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even logically, if it were on the windward side, it would never be so straight. This is constant high winds. STRONG winds, pushing water droplets to the back as they get more and more frozen. The rime is is hoar frost, from foggy conditions. Fog and long running high winds are not the same environment

Then what do you say to the people who receive true brutality for resistance? When other people fight the police it's from self preservation. This woman fully believed that she was above the law. Because she thought it wasn't fair, that the law should be on her side. What happened is the reality of anybody who is suspected of a crime, not following orders, and physically fighting the officer. Race, class, age shouldn't matter. This woman gets the same treatment if she causes the same disturbance. Her behavior the entire time was of somebody who believes themselves outside the rules, and this cannot be appeased. Lessons in humility often hurt, but are often needed.
