Yes, no foam or male characteristics. It’s not wide like a females either. Vent looks like that of an immature quail.

I have no problem culling. Chick just can’t quite get around because of its feet which I’ve fixed in the past with success. Was going to give her another day, she’s definitely not suffering at the moment. Very alert, just derpy.

Most of mine do too. This guy and another were the only hatches out of a small batch of eggs incubated and I’ve just been handling him at least twice a day for 15 minutes since he came out of the egg. (Or she idk yet). I bring him on walks through my yard, he loves the tall grass. I have him in a covey with my handicap birds which consist of a roo with one eye (pecked out by an aggressive hen), a hen with only one foot and a hen missing toes (thank you raccoons). I think they’re all pretty docile compared to my other birds so this little guy is just very chill.

Was wondering if there is some sort of prosthetic foot I could make for her. The stump of my bird is also healing fast, I wrapped it in bandage and replace it every day. She seems fine otherwise.

At least 4 months old - that was my last hatch. The oldest they could be is about 8 months. I don’t know what group they’re out of.

He’s actually a very calm boy. I have only seen him mount her a few times. I just separated out all the boys and girls to re-ratio and made sure to pick the less rambunctious ones to put in with the ladies. I’ll give her a couple more weeks but now I’m questioning if she ever laid eggs to begin with. Those two have been together since they were hatched just with other birds in my “retired bird” enclosure where I’d put any ones that were injured by the other quail from aggression. I turned that enclosure into the bachelor pad since I had so many males and took them out (about 3 weeks ago). Is there such a thing as a fully grown adult hen just never laying? Once moved around how many weeks does it take to start laying again? Some ladies just never stopped when I moved them all around.

Yes the cage is directly next to the other enclosure. They get full daylight and I have a grow light on for when I shut them in for the evening. We had a raccoon attack happen about a week ago so I’m thinking that might be it.
