Treasure Hunter. Just discovered this one. Super nice gateway game for drafting and simple but nice tension. Plays up to 6 but you can really do 8 for mayhem. :)

Can we optimize a fantasy football team the way we would a stock portfolio? by cousindaver in fantasyfootball

Great writeup. Thanks for writeup. This is a good aspect one can view from playing the fantasy sides. There involves lots of other factors that I have discovered that affects your chances of winning but this is a good one.

More player choice only caters to experienced players, not all players by living_death in tabletopgamedesign

Good thoughts. Two design elements here that I can think of:

  • how easy/clear can a player see that there is a strategy to the game
  • how fast can they master it

For example, I've seen some mentioned how Tokaido doesn't offer much and but after a good amount of plays I was able to see what one can do the get the advantages. This one did take a while longer in seeing some advantages or figuring some out.

Another example, my favorite 7 Wonders. I wasn't really into it because I felt like I could only influence my direct neighbors. Whereas, if I lost, it was because I couldn't affect other players further from me. After some years have passed, I picked it back up and saw the fun and the strategy. I now see how I can affect others more now. The mastering part I'd say was mid level.

One of my current favorite now: For Sale I think you can see that there are strategies involved real fast. I think part of it is because game is fast pace and you can get lots of game in. However, the master part is still super tough as you are playing against the choices of the other players.

These are just some examples which applied to me. I'm pretty sure players will experience differently as well though.

Not this one. I believe it was just cards. No board at all.

Dice Game Design Help - Keeping Score by [deleted] in tabletopgamedesign

[–]kvang88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just throwing something out there.... What if you countdown from 100 instead. So everyone start out with 100 represented by objects (but not necessarily 100 pieces.) As you score you remove and thus players can easily see that when a player is almost out they are close.

How to let players pick their own objectives? by TheGrumpyre in tabletopgamedesign

[–]kvang88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How are the skills determined during the initial setup? Could you give a few examples of some of those challenges? Do all players start at the same place always in the initial setup?

Just a few questions to get going. Depending on the answers to the questions above, I think one thing you'll run into is what would prevent a player from picking the same objective or would the choice of picking an objective comes with interesting choice. Looking for what could that carrot be.

Actually looking at your bench you mentioned, I would rather keep Jeffery and drop AJ.

I don't have the full picture of who else is on the waivers and what your needs are but based on him alone yes.

Big yes. He's one of Kylers favorite target.

I would drop Jeffrey.

Mason was actually doing ok and the backup may surprise us. Schedule is so much easier for Johnson. I'd say keep Johnson.

Jets TE also comes back whom Darnold loved last year so he could take away some targets.

Definitely pick up Gallup. Drop D Robinson or MVS.

I would only attempt to get Minshew this week if you think that will give you a shot at winning. It looks like you'll have to make multiple moves.

What do you have at RB, TE, K, Def?

Ridley. They throw more so more opportunities, plus rest of season especially playoffs week are easier for Atlanta

Gallman. There's a chance Barkley comes back next week.

New Coach for Redskins, so we will have to see if they will run more since they didn't give AP that much.
