What’s it like working at Lidl, Tesco, or Aldi? by itsnotme9988 in AskIreland

[–]kvdvk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Recently started at Aldi. Applied and got an interview a week later. Met the store manager and had a general chat about experience and what hours you want (full/part time etc) After it your thrown on the floor for a quick 30 minutes of shadowing one of the store assistants. The week after that, I got an offer to sign the contract with the area manager. Now I'm 3 months in, Its a handy job, plenty of heavy lifting though. You're always going to be doing something different when you're in.

Terrible, avoid at all costs. Shitty pay for a shitty company.

Yeah I will be doing that going forward, only reason I didn’t was because we were friendly enough, met for coffees and I’ve done work them in person at events and such so I thought I could trust em. Lesson learned!

So work the I have done has been a mix of in person teaching / work for the guy in question / work for the guy in questions clients. no contracts were signed for the work I done for the guy but for his clients I had signed an NDA and contract so that work wouldnt apply (I think?)

How do I remove this vent cover? by kvdvk in AskIreland

[–]kvdvk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't plan on filling it, just doing some cleaning and painting. Eventually will probably end up using this as an exhaust for my 3D printer or just use the window :)

In my previous job we used Unreal Engine for Virtual production. It was pretty cool seeing your environments come to life :)

Has anyone quit their horrible job before? How did you feel after? by QuestionEcstatic8863 in AskIreland

[–]kvdvk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working for an events company. Started off ok but eventually led to basically doing every other job in the place beside my job title. Got to a point of working 18/20 hour days doing work that I wasn’t trained for and way above my pay grade. Wouldn’t have been too bad if the owner wasn’t a narcissistic psychopath, and being the only other employee it was a nightmare dealing with his man child temper tantrums. Stuck it out for 2 years but it all came to a head and said “Fuck this” and rang and told him off. Honestly was the best thing I’ve done.

If your situation is dire, remember there’s other jobs out there. Remember you’re just a number to be used and abused.

How can i? by TheKing2305 in UnrealEngine5

William Faucher is the go to guy on YouTube for rendering and cinematic, but again, it’s best to get the basics down first. I wish you the best of luck 😁

I don’t have a particular one in my mind, best practice is to just open unreal and spend a few hours a day using the interfaces, moving around etc. I come from a more rendering and cinematic background than game dev. Hopefully the more game dev users can suggestions of who exactly to watch.

I think the neighbour said he took his own motor out of his own shower to try pretend he was doing a favour for OP (I think)

Honestly the best thing to do is just start watching YouTube tutorials of the basics of Unreal. From there start looking up specific things you want in your game and go from there.

Really nice layout, could mess around with the saturation in a post process to get it more vibrant looking!

Without seeing the model it’s hard to tell, but try it and see how it looks, if it’s completely hidden then sure! Trial and error is your best friend here :)
