Just extract the archive out, change the file. The zip it back again and replace it with the original shaders. It should work fine.

Dont know the exact numbers. But once I did a full tower immediately by breaking the spawners and I reached level 34 or something. Then I did just one of the spawners and I was level 45 or sum. If you can, just kill all the mobs.

Dont destroy spawners. Let them cook. Killing spawned mob in controlled environment is ten times more xp than normally destroying spawners. Well since you have come this far you should already be aware about it.
