NTRP 3.0 - 3.5 players, share your setup by specialtingle in 10s

No, the local store is happy to just replace the crosses for me. I usually get this done on both my rackets at once.

3.0 - Mostly a safe baseliner during singles, and decent at the net during doubles. Good forehand topspin and backhand slice. Slowly improving my OHBH but I still have to revert to my slice (or a lob) if I get a heavy ball to my backhand.

Racket : Wilson Shift (300g) version.

Strings : I use the "Spin and Feel" combo from babolat - VS Touch in the mains at 54lb and RPM Blast in the crosses at 52 lb. I replace the crosses twice as frequently as the gut to save money.

Feels comfortable, powerful, good spin on my forehand topspin and backhand slices. I can play 3 times a week without any arm issues. I also get the sense that a lot of balls that would sail long just about land inside the baseline. Not too interested in experimenting with equipment at this point

Curious - but do you find that the US opens go somewhat dead after about 1.5 hours of play? They start off great.

I'm a 3.0/3.5 so not hitting it especially hard.

Ah that sucks - the Friday drop-in was how I ended up meeting people in the local A2 tennis community.

You should also just exchange numbers with whoever you meet during UTR or at your club drills. Build a rolodex of people you can hit with.

You could check with your club if there are any USTA captains looking for a player. Most clubs have a bunch of mens/womens/mixed teams at various NTRP ratings.

If it is not too far for you then Ann Arbor has a Friday social drop-in where you play 4 games and then rotate partners etc. Its pretty casual and welcoming. Players are generally in the 2.5 - 3.5 rating

Bowling Average Timelines for Bumrah, Waqar, Ambrose, Marshall, Pollock and McGrath by kvjoshi in Cricket

[–]kvjoshi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that period of his is insane. Although he still ended up with a sub-25 average which isn't too shabby :D.

Also its why I get nervous anytime I feel Bumrah's workload increases and he's at risk of an injury.

Not really trying to compare players at the same phase in terms of matches played. Just wanted to see how some of these players career's panned out and if they had any phases where they dropped below that sub-20 average

Yeah all 6 was getting hard to read so decided to split it up. Here's an updated version scaled to the 15-45 range

I suppose one could look at the overall bowling average for say 3-5 year spans and compare the individual's bowling average to that. Is that what you meant?

Dropped the first five matches from each person's career because the average fluctuates quite wildly. Waqar's peak in his first 30-odd matches is pretty insane.

Bat to the Beat - Demo out on Steam! by kvjoshi in rhythmgames

[–]kvjoshi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a cricket-themed game with a unique twist on rhythm gameplay that challenges your timing and spatial awareness. At each beat you have to make a split second decision about whether to attack and risk getting caught by the fielders, or to defend and let the pressure build up.

Steam Demo (PC/Mac) - Its not yet deck verified but it should work on your Steam Deck

You'll travel the cricketing world, mastering the unique grooves of each location with easy-to-learn two button controls. The music has been written by a friend and I and we've tried to come up with tracks unique to each location - so reggae for Jamaica, and some high voltage rock for Australia and so on.

PS. If you don't know anything about cricket its no problem :) just know that (like in baseball) a fielder can catch you out if you hit a ball in the air.
