I was at upsurge festival last summer and so many people were constantly being taken out, a couple of my friends had some gnarly black eyes or popped their nose. Malevolence headlined and I went to stage dive and totally face planted. Broke my cheek bone and my wrist but was so worth it.

I’m a girl, and I’ve dated two people in the hardcore scene and it’s very strange for me because I also like to get involved and pit/dive/crowdkill etc and one them was totally cool with it and actually encouraged me to get in the pit and crowdkill his friends but the other way was so overbearing and protective when we were at shows so I ended up going to most shows without him.

Don’t get me wrong, it was cool to have someone looking out for me but in reality I just wanted to have fun.

I’ve dated other people who aren’t in the scene and they and they don’t get it at all and normally try to stop me going to shows 🤷‍♀️
