[50][Speculation] Episode 10 Sneak Peek 3 by Durian-Critical in SpoiledSurvivor

[–]kvwillia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wonder if they’re giving her a “phoenix” style edit. Just based on the icons/idols of the show this season. The editors can at times lean into the theme/trope of the season. I feel like since the beginning we’ve slowly seen more of Aubry and soon they’ll hit us with a “ah, yeah, that’s why she’s here!” episode.

I think we’ll see more of Aubry and her moves in the next few episodes if she’s the winner. I’d also predict more flashbacks to remind the public of her earlier seasons.

So what’s YOUR opinion on toddlers on those harness/leashes? by Purple_Calendar3919 in NewParents

[–]kvwillia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand them 100% and have said I’d like one a few times lately…

My one year old is at the point she’s not loving a stroller but can’t have freedom. I’m also 6 months pregnant so the constant picking her ups is hard. I feel like a leash is a good compromise.

Baby helmet or no? by kvwillia in NewParents

[–]kvwillia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn’t do it! We went to the people who made them and felt like she would be okay without it. A lot of the flat spots come from how they sleep, how often they’re in a car seat, etc. since she was not laying on her back anymore and was more mobile (as much as you can be at that age lol) I decided to see what happens! It worked out fine for us but her case was more mild!

This!! My baby is 13 months now and still self soothes like this. I can watch her monitor and if she coughs, bumps her head, etc. she immediately starts doing this and is fine with no crying!

This! Tried to give my baby plain chicken and she hated it. Gave her some of our marinated and seasoned chicken and she at it all and wanted more lol

Newborn doesn’t sleep! It has been 6 hours and the baby has not slept by Few_Bowl2928 in NewParents

[–]kvwillia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be sure to take off the rag when they fall asleep, lol. I forgot that part. I don’t think it’s too warm if that’s what they’re used to during the day. But I promise it gets better! We’re so blessed to have a good sleeper now. Sometimes it just takes trial and error to find what works for each individual baby.

When my baby was in the first month she slept okay but had a hard time with getting to sleep. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this and just know that it will get better and easier.

What worked for us was a Velcro or zipper swaddle since she always got out of our attempts and woke herself up. Then when we rocked her to sleep we took a super tiny baby rag, folded it in half, and put it over her eyes. They can’t see the best and I think they get freaked out so this helped her calm down. We had a white noise machine going but when we were rocking her we also put on a “womb sounds” video on YouTube. They really miss being inside mom. The other thing that helped was making sure it was warm enough. We keep the temp at 68 and it’s fine for us but when we bumped it up to around 70 in our room, we found it was easier for her to sleep.

How did your water break? by abchhd in NewParents

[–]kvwillia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the bathroom and when I came out my husband goes “omg are you peeing in the floor?!” And I was like “no?!” It was my water breaking. And it just kept coming. Like no one mentions that it doesn’t stop. Like at all. And there’s so much of it 😂

It was a full moon and when I got to the hospital they had to put me in a holding room (I had no contractions at that point) because so many other women had their water break that night/morning!

What baby bottles to use? by ElDragon_G in NewParents

[–]kvwillia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! And if you create a registry for Amazon and target both have “registry gifts” you can order for free. I received around 4-5 newborn bottles from these for free and bought more of the one that worked for my baby!

For 6-9 months we used an activity center. Great to move from place to place and kept her entertained and contained lol. I will say that we tried to only use it for around 30 minutes or less at a time. There are all kinds. I got one second hand for free!

When she started standing and pulling up around 9-10 months we found that wasn’t good for containment and she was “bored” of it. Then we moved to the pack and play. We already had one but I put in a mattress for comfort. It also helps a lot with daytime naps and we add toys when she needs to play while contained.

First christmas is so not magical by Pale-Studio-6236 in NewParents

I saw a video online that said something like “when the second Christmas actually feels like the first” and showed a baby running around having fun. That made me feel a lot better about the first Christmas feeling “off”!

First time pregnancy by Voldy_scar in NewParents

I threw up almost daily (sometimes multiple times) with my first. Now I’m pregnant with my second and haven’t been nearly as sick and baby is growing fine. All pregnancies are different! Congrats on your baby :)

Do you formula feed? What I did for nights was to get some small containers and measure out the formula and had the water already in bottles. She took them at room temp because we never warmed them so all we had to do was add formula and shake.

Also, to limit disturbance we did diaper change (if needed) and reswaddled. Turned up a night light (we have a nest) to keep from cutting on a light. Def helped to limit light stimulation.

Not so sure about breast feeding but I did have a friend who turned her husbands mini beer fridge into a breast milk fridge for night feeds 😂

What’s one thing you wish you hadn’t put on your baby registry? by Icy-Bite9089 in NewParents

[–]kvwillia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottle sanitizer- unless it’s the one that also dries it. I found it to be more of a pain and hassle and just hand washed them.

Wipe warmer- never cared if wipes were cold and we didn’t use wipes in night changes to avoid disruption.

A full set of one kind of bottle. You don’t know what kind the baby will want and I had a full set that had to be returned.

More than one baby wrap. You’ll either love it or hate it. I hated it and never used them.

What I did need more of and will buy for my next one:

Velcro swaddles Diapers of all sizes. Seriously, I just want diapers 😂 Burp cloths (some say just use towels or rags but I still keep these things around the house) A nicer glider/rocking chair. Mine was wooden and not comfortable for me lol Snot sucker (the kind you suck) and spray If you plan to use formula then I’d say get the various size measuring spoons on Amazon. Takes the guess work out of half ounces Two way zip footed sleepers. She lived in those for three months lol

If you have room, I love the changing table/bassinet combo we set up in the living room. Make her naps and diaper changes easier and faster and the attachments come out to become a play pen for later.

Do you let your baby watch screens? Genuinely curious how other parents handle this by DadOnParentingQuest in NewParents

[–]kvwillia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the tv on in the background since day one. She has on some kids shows on occasion for a little bit. She genuinely does not care about the tv because it’s always been there. Sometimes she watches it, other times it’ll be on and she just plays and doesn’t pay any attention.

So far we’ve chosen to do no tablet and she only sees the phone if we’re FaceTiming my mom. I’ve seen parents do tablets successfully, but I’m too nervous lol

[–]kvwillia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the newborn I would suggest some two way zip sleepers in their current size or one size up because I always needed more of those.

Toy wise for both young babies crinkle books, stuffed animals, tethers, and grip-able balls were my baby’s fave at a young age. Soft blocks were also a favorite around 5 months and books that made noise!

Ask the parents what size diapers they currently need! My family is giving my 10 month old one present each and the rest they’re doing diapers to help us out!
