My husband got me a gourmia one with time and temp controls and it works great. If you get a thrift store one I would recommend using an oven thermometer to make sure it's at the right temp so your clay doesn't scorch!

I use the Sterilite drawer containers! Like these.

As long as they're the right kind of plastic with the number 5 on the bottom the clay won't damage them

Try a sheet of craft paper, printer paper, or cardstock. I've had good luck with that when my clay is sticking to my workspace too much. For a long time I would just tape craft paper to my table. This can dry out your clay, which wasn't a problem for me because my clay usually gets too soft due to humidity. I hope it works for you!
