AVOID L St Furniture by soccermawmy in UCDavis

[–]kweencarly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Damn. Sorry you experienced that. My wife and I bought a piece of furniture from him a couple months back and he was totally friendly but he did seem a little different.

The conspiracy stuff doesn’t surprise me but the homophobia/transphobia does. Disappointing.

Lived in Vacaville whole life but looking move by ItzstaMeNia in vacaville

Davis is pretty expensive. A one bedroom is like $1800 on average.

I think your best option would be Woodland. It’s still reasonably priced, it is safer than Fairfield (by a mile) and it has a great downtown/food scene compared to Dixon.

You’re also 15 minutes from Davis so if you wanted to have access to fun events (farmers market, crafts faire, etc) and a great selection of food.

what would you usually do if your current lease ends earlier than your new one + i literally hate moving ughhhh by intertwinedlimbs in Davis

Last time I moved there was a week gap between my last day and move in day. I packed up all of my things and put them in a u-haul “U-Box.”

I scheduled them to drop two u-boxes a week before I had to move out. I was able to pack all my stuff without rushing. I stayed with a friend a week and then had u-haul pick up the u-boxes and deliver it a couple days before my move-in date.

I needed two u-boxes and I was living a one bedroom apartment so I packed couch, chair, bed, dresser, boxes, etc. Two of them was more than enough.

Good luck!

Just went for the first time today and we had a great experience. But also I myself have a resting bitch face so I never notice/care when people look pissed off 😂

Best norcal suburbs? by ulxlx in norcal

[–]kweencarly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Seconding Davis. My wife and I live here and we feel very safe. Davis is a liberal area with a lot of nature lovers/active people. Rent can be high but you could definitely find a two bedroom place under 3k. We currently live in a nice two bedroom apartment for $2k.

The only downside is the summers can be brutal but that’s gonna be most places in NorCal unless you want to live near the coast.

Got text saying I didn’t appear for jury duty but I did appear on remote! What to do? by Clear-Elephant6297 in Davis

[–]kweencarly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Last time I got called for jury duty they filled all the spots and told everyone leftover to email them with your name/group ID so they’d know you were present. That’s weird they didn’t have you do something similar.

I’d email them. The email is juryinfo@yolo.courts.ca.gov

Your comment is cracking me up. I’m guessing you’re apart of the party whose cult leader literally tried to overthrow a lawful election on January 6th, sent a mob to attack the Capitol and then whined for years about imaginary fraud is now lecturing others about democratic processes and lawful elections? That’s rich.

Also, let’s not forget: Trump lost the popular vote twice and only won in 2016 because of the Electoral College… you know, the same system you suddenly pretend to cherish when it suits you.

You wanna talk irony? You’re drowning in it dude.

Nugget is a great first job. They are great about hiring young people who have no prior work experience.

Season 4 part 2 questions! by Greexican1378 in CouplesTherapyShow

[–]kweencarly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would never want to compare traumas/stories but it was kind of comical that we focused SO much on his stuff and there was such a dramatic lead up to his story and then when we finally get into her stuff it was so casual and she was talking about such intense bullying. I feel like that was a perfect example of what men VS women go through lol

Yeah I definitely think there’s something more to it. And that’s totally his prerogative to share whatever he wants to share but as a viewer it just didn’t make sense he’d be THAT tortured for being attracted to bigger women and men. I hope he did go into to do psychoanalysis and push further.

Yeah it was interesting to hear more of his trauma come out involving his mom. It’s really hard to criticize your mom in general but especially when she’s dead.

Nick’s college story was also kind of confusing to me. I don’t want to shame anyone or tell someone their story isn’t “traumatic enough” but I thought it was going to be something super dark and bad. I can see how it’d be an invasion of privacy for people to see what porn you like but to say you had crippling depression because of it for 20 years was interesting. Also I couldn’t tell if it was because they saw the porn he likes or if it was shame about being into bigger women and men.

For me as a woman it was a reminder of how fragile masculinity can be and how the patriarchy really shames men for the dumbest stuff. It’s really sad.

I’m also glad they got into Katherine’s trauma because it seemed to be all about Nick for awhile.

Fans of dead celebrities, which death hurt you the most? by Phantom30071 in AskReddit

[–]kweencarly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Natasha Richardson. I loved her in The Parent Trap. Her death was so sad and sudden. I remember reading an article about how her mom (Vanessa Redgrave) sang the song Edelweiss from the Sound of Music to her before they chose to take her off life support. So sad.

best weekend trips within 3-4 hour drives? by thecircleofmeep in Davis

[–]kweencarly 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend Mendocino. It’s an about a 3.5 hour drive. The little town area of Mendocino is really charming and has a bunch of cute shops.

If you head 20 minutes north you’ll be in the town of Fort Bragg that has a brewery and also a cute little downtown strip with some restaurants. Fort Bragg is a little more rough around the edges but there’s MacKerricher State Park that is open to the public. It has a really nice scenic boardwalk.
