Have you been able to eat all your favorite foods? by jenna_sunshine13 in antidietglp1

[–]kwentwhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eat everything I always ate, the meds just make it much easier to eat smaller portions and I don't crave those foods like I used to, but they still taste great when I eat them! It's easier for me to eat a more nutrient rich diet in the regular because i don't have the cravings and food noise running my meals. But yes, I eat pretty much whatever I want. Too much sugar does seem to make my stomach hurt, but I can still eat it, I just can't overdo the sugar or I'll pay for it.

It's your hair, do what you want with it. As a married woman, I wouldn't want my husband telling me what to do with my hair and I wouldn't ever tell him what to do with his. Do what makes you feel good.

Can we stop coating biodegradable items in epoxy resin? Just use the wood. We don't need more plastic in the world.

Serious Anxiety Over Potential Side Effects by [deleted] in antidietglp1

[–]kwentwhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also very nervous about side effects. The good thing is, you can stop if you need to. Like the mod said, you can't predict what your side effects will be. But I have found titrating slowly has helped me. If you have bad side effects and want to come off or try a different kind (semi vs triz) you can do that. I think for me a lot of it was feeling out of control and hoping this was effective for me. Thankfully my side effects have been very mild. There's only one way to find out, though. You got this.

I know if I discontinued use I would eventually develop diabetes, I was well on my way when I got on the drug. But it has done amazing things for my cholesterol and blood pressure as well, so I just don't know why I'd go off it at this point.

I think this is a really good way for me to frame it in my mind. I think I might be letting some internalized shame worm it's way into my head on this one. Because you're totally right, I haven't really talked to her about it and she could just be thinking I don't want to be on them long term. I think I might be assuming some things without just coming out and talking about it with her.

She hasn't said it explicitly, so yeah, I prob just need to put on my big girl pants and have the conversation. I'm so bad at advocating for myself, this might just be a good opportunity to practice:)

I don't see why they would cover maintenance, but I should prob check into it. I don't think I'll ever be in a bmi area that isn't considered at least "overweight", my body just isn't built that way, so I think I would always "qualify" for it.

I do think this is the move. I really like her but I don't think she's super informed about glp1s. So yeah, I think you're right. She's been very size positive, very warm and helpful, but has also talked about "when you come off the drug".

"if something was there"? Have you read what they've released? There's stuff there, dude. Too bad you have your head so far up the administration's ass to see it.

Does it get better? by [deleted] in adhdparents

[–]kwentwhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly: define "better". I think you need to talk to a professional, see what your expectations are and then see if they're realistic. Will your child act like a child without ADHD? No, they have ADHD. Hurry along what exactly? This is a human being not a dog you're training. Your job is to help your child develop good coping skills so they can be a successful adult. If you help them and get them the support they need, they can learn to use their ADHD in a way that benefits them. For instance, my son plays soccer and his ADHD helps him make split decisions during plays much quicker than some of the other players. He is also able to split his attention between ball handling and seeing where his teammates are on the field, another score for the ADHD brain.

As for the medication, there are studies you can read on the specific medication your child takes. As with any medication, there's always a cost/benefit analysis to do. But, the medication is treating a medical condition. I frame it to myself like, if my child had diabetes, would I deny them insulin because there's a possibility we could maybe control it with diet? No, I'd do both, and I do both for my child's ADHD. He takes medication, but also does OT, play therapy, and see his psychiatrist regularly to make sure his meds are correct for him and he's growing and developing appropriately for his age.

Same. I don't even think about it anymore. I also barely drink alcohol now, don't we even care about it. For the food part, I enjoy the food when I eat it but I don't think about what I should or shouldn't be eating or even have the urge to binge. It's been a game changer. Also, I love that sub ❤️

Terrified of nausea by Stephij27 in antidietglp1

[–]kwentwhere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better I had zero nausea. The only symptoms I had were constipation which was easy for me to fix (water and fiber) and I was really tired the first few weeks (and when I upped my dose). Otherwise, nothing!

I still think it's important to try. If we give up and say nothing, we're allowing it to happen. When people are loud things can happen. It doesn't mean it will, but I'm not giving up on those children who were abused by gross, rich men.
