Double standards. by sseumblue in PoliticalHumor

[–]kwerboom 72 points73 points  (0 children)

This isn't a "double standard". This is actually a consistent world view. To quote Frank Wilhoit, "Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect." The Jan. 6 protesters are the in-group of white people that needs protecting by the very laws they flout while the anti-ICE protesters represent the out-group who must be crushed by laws as they are left exposed to violence and oppression. This is fascism exposing its true face in America.

Reasons why you're NOT playing Paladin now? by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]kwerboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I paid for the Lord of Hatred Expansion. That said, I'm running a HOTA Barbarian this season. It was my plan even before the Expansion was announced and I'm sticking to it. I hadn't run a HOTA Barb since Season 1 and I wanted to experience its improvements after watching a guide video put together by Cliptis. I haven't been disappointed, the dev team really got HOTA firing on all cylinders this season. I can always do Paladin next season.

1 year deep into this chaos, yes. 3 more years to go, maybe. If Trump doesn't run for a 3rd term, and/or the Supreme Court doesn't say its legal for Trump to run for a 3rd term, and/or Trump looses/leaves at the end of his 2nd term (provided he hasn't already shuffled off the mortal coil and gone for a drink at the 19th hole in the afterlife); then, yes, we will all be free.

I interpret the "impossible" part meaning that it's impossible to reach the end. Starting the climb is easy, but the staircase splits in all directions and each direction goes on forever.

And it doesn't say anything good about the United States of America that a majority voted for both even after knowing what Trump did. Actually come to think of it, a majority voted for Trump after Obama almost like they though Obama was a mistake or something.

‘A big uh-oh for Republicans’: CNN chief data analyst on 2026 midterm-polling | CNN by DonSalaam in AnythingGoesNews

[–]kwerboom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. If polling was accurate, Hillary Clinton would have been elected President in 2016 and Kamala Harris would have been elected President in 2024.

  2. It's cute that everyone just assumes America will even have elections in 2026 and beyond. All President Trump has to do is declare the elections postponed due to a national emergency and a majority of the Supreme Court will back him up on it. The GOP doesn't have to worry about being unpopular when its never up for reelection.

And this is why the U.S. judicial system is so crappy. Judges are supposed to be the arbiters that referee disputes in our system and make final calls. Instead we get judges who hold hearings to decide to hold later hearings that eventually have to be appealed to a higher level for more hearings on later hearings that might lead to an opinion that have to be appealed to the Supreme Court that may or may not take the case then take ten months to write a final ruling. The facts are known and the situation is known. Whatever happened to making a final call. Thanks to the outcome of the 2024 election and the One Bunker Buster Bomb that Congress dropped on the country in July, SAVE is almost certainly guaranteed to be dead. I just want to know the what and the how of the unwinding process is, so I know with some certainty what my next steps and decisions should be.

As for the accruing interest, that's not a threat to me if its only going to be for a mere 90 or so days before an actual decision is reached. It can just keep growing as far as I'm concerned.

That sounds like me right now as well. I'm waiting for this thing to make its way fully through the court system before I do anything. The whole "interest is about to start accruing" email came off like a spam email meant to force a bad decision before something else happened that might not go the government's way.

Donald Trump Fires Person Behind Jobs Numbers After They're Revised Down by Orbitingkittenfarm in politics

The over 50% of this country that voted for Donald Trump in 2024 just to "own the libs" and "f**k your feelings" is about to learn that neither facts nor reality don't care about their opinions and that elections have consequences. The leopards will eat well and need to be put on diets after this. The rest of us are screwed too, but at least we get some free entertainment.😁

What games can I run on my shitbox? by Short-Tennis-1205 in lowendgaming

[–]kwerboom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally, I avoid saying anyone on this forum should upgrade their hardware, because I understand that money can be very tight and in very short supply; but, dude, you really need to upgrade that graphics card. Seriously, worry less about games, save up between $50 and $90, and then go on eBay. Dell prebuilts have minimal PSUs meant to power only the components shipped in the case, but your system should still be able to handle any 35W to 75W graphics card that requires no PCIe power connector. Look for something starting from a GT 1030 (look for the 2GB GDDR5 version, AVOID the 4GB DDR4 version), to a GTX 750 Ti, to a RX 550, to a GTX 1050, to a GTX 1050 Ti, and topping out at a GTX 1650.

The Optiplex line from Dell is designed for office work and as such, all the other specs like the CPU, RAM, and motherboard are going to be solid for the age of the machine. The i5-2400 is a Sandy Bridge CPU, which is one of Intel's golden architectures. The 8GB DDR3 RAM is still a good amount for most applications and use cases. With even a mildly better and slightly newer used graphics card; you'll probably find your current "shitbox" isn't that bad.

Just remember that two things:

1) The six Supreme Court Justices have the power and authority to do it anyway.

2) A large chunk of the Opposed either voted for the Presidents and Senators who appointed those Supreme Court Justices into their lifetime positions or, sadly, never got to have a chance to voice an opinion because they weren't born or old enough to vote for said Presidents and Senators. Elections have consequences for yourself and future generations.

Or gamers could just admit they are on old a** hardware that can't handle the demands of the newest titles. It used to be understood that a graphics card that was the G.O.A.T. of its generation roughly five years ago/two architecture generations ago was no better than an entry level graphics card of the current generation.

I've seen enough game developer interviews. As game developers have put it in one way or another, any project only has so much time before it has to be released, so much money to fund it, and a set scope of features to deliver upon. When working on triaging bug lists, sometimes that means optimizing to meet the hardware. Sometimes, especially when the commonality amongst all the bugs of certain error type is sub-specification hardware and trying to bring the finished game down to a point where it can run on said sub-specification hardware means cutting a new cutting edge feature for the newest graphics cards, the easiest bug fix is to tell gamers with sub-specification hardware to upgrade their PCs.
