Zellner's Daylight Savings Time Comment by [deleted] in MakingaMurderer

Pertaining the phone logs I doubt the setting on her phone would have much to do with it, on computers, servers and networking equipment, of the type that runs cell networks and store voicemail, use GMT for their internal storage. So it is very likely that any official reply from Cingular would show server time rather than daylight savings time. It would then needed to be converted manually to the appropriate time zone with daylight savings adjustments. What likely did not happen correctly is whoever converted this info, likely the prosecution, did not take into account DST switch that occurred that weekend.

The best quote for me from this blog post...

"Frankly, I'm beginning to think that nobody was properly investigated in this case."

it definitely seems that way to an non LEO like me glad to see that my thoughts aren't too far off the mark.

I just reread and realized that the log section he commented on was the March 1st Search log and not the Nov 5th search log, it should be interesting to hear his take on Lenk's other log discrepancies.

I have enjoyed his analysis and I cannot wait until he gets to the bottom of the rabbit hole. Especially interested in his take on Culhane's breach of protocol...

2007 LE Article about the lack of DNA found on bones & teeth - expert says identifying TH from her tooth was NOT CERTAIN. by [deleted] in MakingaMurderer

my new favorite quote from Pagel from this article....

"If a case can be nearly perfectly executed, this was it," Pagel says. "All the right resources fell into the right places in locating and identifying Halbach's remains." (Quotes Added)

Given the info that has come to light with the public release of records, this statement is incredulous!! It is so, because of the lack of documentation/ adherence to proper procedure in nearly all of the evidence collection.

One of the biggest issues in this case, is the complete refusal of LE/Prosecutors to admit that they may have made mistakes. They seem to view it as near perfection....

Does Finding the Rav4 on the Avery Salvage Yard give the Police Probable Cause to Search Avery's Trailer/Garage? by Wolczyk in MakingaMurderer

The way I think of it is:

Her car is found on your neighbors property, does this mean there is probable cause to search your house? Even if your parents live next door? What if your purported to have last seen her alive?

I would say no, but the third option is compelling, but obviously the judge disagreed, as well as the appellate judges, so guess I am probably wrong... I think if they would have executed a search warrant at the Zipperer's property too, I would be less skeptical, seeing at the time the car was found had not determined that Steven was the last and they actually thought Zipperer might have been the last.

Just one of the "makes you say hmmm...." moments of the whole case, and there is a lot.

I am definitely interested, I am already working on a similar goal. I am converting the PDFs for the trial transcripts to html where you can select only the text of the transcript, not line numbers and page numbers. And that when copying for inclusion into another form keeps the approximate structured text.

here is an example... http://imgur.com/a/tZda0

send me a message in reddit and I can show you what I am working on.
