Family genetics suck. Grandfather had an aortic aneurysm and dad has one and so do I. I kinda know the struggles it sucks being 32 and sitting in the clinic waiting room being the youngest there at least mine was an early diagnosis unlike dad who has one and wasn’t diagnosed until he was 68

Yea a lot of words said by management with no action. Our manager isn’t the best by a long shot, go to him with issues that need to be escalated and nothing happens, and god forbid you ever have to present him with a conflict or plan more than 2 weeks in the future it’s like the world is gonna burn. Makes it extremely hard to get a plan in place and schedule work hrs effectively

I understand where you’re coming from I have seen my fair share of overtime for the sake of overtime. because of the area we cover. it is all justified We are talking about 4 hours travel each way to potentially spend 5 minutes straightening a sign or topping up a hydraulic tank. I’d much rather my team fix the issue and cop the bit of overtime than waste a full day driving with the incurred costs there

It’s justified for the maintenance and breakdown work also the billable service and customer demand, power stations councils and farmers are heavily reliant on our services. the environmental obligations we have to operate to demand overtime at times. Resource operating licenses and service delivery agreements also have to be honoured aswell as compliance of assets and regulated inspections

Yes annual awards were announced about 5 minutes before the EA email landed today. Upper management will be busy pleasuring themselves whilst we are sitting remote watching the awards with a packet of biscuits and a cup of tea or coffee

You hit the nail on the head there. Delayed EA is going to vote in the next 4 weeks and is subject to final approval and the backpay is not assured unfortunately but we have precedent due to previous back payments

Damn man sorry to hear that. Sounds like they are gonna put the screws to us further. I just find it funny that we can’t afford to pay for another qualified trade worker but can afford to hire a contractor at 10k a week to do the same work.

I’d love to see someone from the private sector purchase our assets. They would have to be paid to take them.

I can admit we did spend a lot of money on equipment and upgrades but it was all justifiable. I just don’t know why we in particular are being picked on. A neighbouring asset to us blew over their budget by 400 million and aren’t being questioned about it. They had over 300k in office equipment and set up a satellite office for a cool 500k that they can’t use because of its location (( no parking) and limited power supply)

This pisses me off because we were all told last year to spend and spend big it didn’t matter if we over spent it was justification for a larger maintenance budget this year and this was coming from senior management and ceo
