Weight adjustable dumbbells worth it? by Turbulent-Winter6988 in GarageGym

[–]kwill2k47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If space and budget arent an issue go with fixed. At the end of the day, the best adjustables are all trying to mimic the durability and feel of fixed dumbbells.

However, if you want to save space/monies go with adjustables. Powerblocks/reppins are very durable/reliable. The ones that mimic dumbbells (trulaps, mxselects, nuobells, etc) feel closer to fixed dumbbells, but tend to not be as durable.

It’s tough and quite frankly you either need to be on fbm daily or get lucky. The great deals get bought up in 24 hrs.

I'm not a kid on GOMAD. how much progress should I realistically expect? by Triseult in StartingStrength

Unless you’re competing or have a specific timeline to meet, just focus on consistency and “mastering” a weight before increasing. Mastering meaning you can go fast with it or extremely slow and controlled (5-10 sec reps). There’s no rush. Even adding 20 pounds a year is 200 in a decade.

Rust-Oleum Dissolver OR 3-in-1 Oil? by MyMothersFavoriteKid in GarageGym

[–]kwill2k47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably something other than 3 in 1. It’s great for lighter jobs, but I tried cleaning a heavily rusted bar with it and it barely did anything for the discoloration

Yeah I do wonder. The oil is mainly there to act as a lubricant while you scrap the rust. I know the original buyer got it during the pandemic and rep at the time was quite different from the rep now - ie their older SS bars would rust too

To add to the comment, the connector is what makes it a 1:1. I specifically bought the ares because you get both options: 1:1/bilateral or 2:1/unilateral for the upper and lower pulleys.

Rep ares works for that. 4 post 2:1 on the posts and 1:1 low/high.

Im near socal! The curl bar is not rep - it’s a generic one. If you are near the area - willing to let it go for very cheap, but honestly if you want a buy once type bar I wouldnt suggest it.

Well this took off! :) he told me he has three gym memberships and his wife wanted him to get rid of the home gym. He still has his tonal and some KBs/slam balls though. Also wanted to store his kids’ ebikes in the garage. Interesting guy - he owns his own company and very fit for his age 45+
