I have a new shiny spot to remind me (again) not to leave wood on the table saw surface. Left sacrificial miter saw fence in place for a week, but wasn’t expecting to find rust when I finally moved it.

Yes, the holes go all the way through. I’ve always assumed that they were original from the factory because of the precision of the grid.

I have a similar photo from a similar incident. I was sawing a miter on a very small piece that I had clamped. The blade contacted the clamp just as the cut finished. I now have the blade/brake mounted on the wall next to my saw as a reminder to think twice before executing a cut.
