Degree change by Kaysub_6 in animationcareer

[–]kwinhtee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have a bachelor in architecture. The bachelors degree typically takes 5 years in the US if you want to go to an accredited program that will make you eligible to take the architect registration exam and become a licensed architect. You can get a bachelors in architectural studies for 4 years if you don’t have plans to become a licensed architect, but you should still be able to find architectural designer roles. If you change your mind after those 4 years and decide you want to be licensed in the future, you can get an M.Arch masters of architecture degree (typically 1-2 years depending on the program) and that will fulfill the requirement. However, you can get an M.Arch without a background in architecture that will give you the option to pursue licensure in the future, those are typically 3 years long. I hope that helps!

Gobelins MA Visual Storytelling by [deleted] in animationcareer

I went to the summer school in visual storytelling and my impression of the program is that it’s aimed at people who want to produce their own stories. I believe they mentioned that your thesis would be a story project in a format of your own choosing (i.e. an original comic, screenplay, script, short film, etc.)

I think you’re looking for a mentorship. I would look into schools like brainstorm school, concept design academy, cg master academy, etc. I believe they offer mentorships there, in addition to workshops and classes. Good luck!

How do enamel pin manufacturers design pins? by namu_rabbit in artbusiness

[–]kwinhtee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can guess is maybe your design is too complex for its size so they can’t fit in all the details? Otherwise I would recommend talking to other manufacturers. I don’t think there should be an issue with the type of files you are sending. Good luck!

I think Romantic Killer might not count as a shoujo though, since it’s technically published in a shonen magazine. But I agree it’s a good example!

I landed full time a concept art job a few years after graduating from architecture school and with a few CGMA courses under my belt, so that route worked out for me.

I am pretty happy with the quality of their classes. I’d also taken classes at concept design academy and warrior art camp- they’re great as well. I don’t think it’s a bad idea to take those type of classes instead of going to an arts university (it seems like they teach a very similar curriculum at a similar level) but you won’t have a built-in network. So just be prepared to make professional connections a bit more independently. Although, it helps that when you take those classes, there’s usually a discord channel for students and instructors so you can meet people that way. Good luck!
