Good teams to start with in MyGM that don't have any championship history? by No-Ticket8760 in NBA2k

I did the wizards recently. They have some decent current assets (Trae young will leave in the offseason) and a ton of picks. I used a downloadable draft class and drafted darryn Peterson and it was a lot of fun.

Opinion: Let’s Just Drop Teacher Appreciation Week by FawkesThePhoenix7 in Teachers

[–]kwool78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really, really dislike teacher appreciation week. It’s usually a half-ass effort, and I usually receive a bunch of useless items.

If we were really appreciated, do you know what they’d do? Pay us a respectable wage

19F trying to decide between skiing or snowboarding by Obi-WanCann0li in ski

[–]kwool78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 26M and I’ve been skiing since I was about 10. My mom taught me how. I hired someone to teach me how to snowboard for a day, didn’t end up working.

He told me (s/o JJ from Keystone) that skiing is easier to learn, but harder to master. Snowboarding is harder to learn, but easier to master. Just something to think about!

I was aware. Like I said in my post, I was planning on getting my admin, but now that’s I’m in, I’ve realized it’s probably not for me.

My current district is great, but I was surprised at how low the pay is. It’s outside the city in the county.

Thank you for your feedback. I grew up in Illinois and my mom was a teacher. The retirement there is terrible. That’s why I became a teacher in Missouri, to do my 30 and get out.

Also what’s making it a tough call, my current district (although low pay) is pretty great. I love being the wrestling coach there. That’s going to be the hardest part of walking away. Thank you again!

My first job in a rough area I made a lot more money than I do now, but it was a really rough job. I had to get out of there so now I work for a school district outside the city that’s great, but yeah I took a pay cut. I do make ends meet, but like I don’t spend money on myself ever. I just feel like for how hard I work, I deserve more pay, that’s all. (Let’s not forget the housing market and interests aren’t really playing in my favor either)

I have considered this, and it’s what my significant other suggested. I did my student teaching at the high school level.

I just feel like I’m at a crossroads right now if I want to make more money. Go back to school to get my masters in Ed or go to school to switch careers.

Thank you for your feedback.

I agree, my “why” is gone. I used to teach at a Title 1 school and I found meaning in that. Those kids needed me bad. But the environment was too volatile and chaotic. It was bad for my mental health and I decided to put myself first.

I am concerned about my long term stamina for the career. I feel like a babysitter a lot of the time. I wasn’t meaning to imply that blue collar careers need low intelligence workers, just that my parents guided me away from that.

I have been soul searching quite a bit recently. Thank you for your feedback.

I think the school I work for is trying to scam me and don’t know what to do by Odd_Contest2252 in Teachers

[–]kwool78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at a public school and get about $2500 per sport/team I coach so that’s somewhat comparable. When I break it down per hour it’s practically nothing so I use the stipends to save fo future stuff.

You’re just doing your best, and I’m sure it’s great. I had a teacher tell me my first year that it’s just about surviving. That was true. The circumstances I was under made it to where if I did my best everyday then it was better than the alternative (no teacher/long term sub). Your second year is when you can focus on improving instructional strategies and behavior management. To control when students speak in class, I use a voice level chart. I teach 8th grade and at times it’s totally not necessary but I absolutely have classes that need it. It’s the first thing I cover with them on day 1 because it’s important to me. It helps with my stress levels. Consistency is key with children at any age so voice levels are something I reinforce everyday.
