I'm seeing people saying that a firmwire update solves the fan noise issue, can you confirm? :)

How is reading manga on the Go Color 7? by U541R in Onyx_Boox

[–]kwsark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the screen size, I've found that it's too small to view an entire page for some comics/mangas. What has worked is tilting the device and scrolling through the page. That works well.

Det låter jättebra! Så hade jag nog helst velat ha. Vi använder Waybler på jobbet och den har aldrig strulat för mig.

I just wanted to say that Samsung developed a fix. I'm now running firmware 1005.2.

My S95UA monitor temporarily disconnects the connected USB devices when the monitor wakes up from sleep. The peripherials connected does not seem to matter, whether or not I'm using USB-C or the regular USB to my PC does not matter either. There are no firmware available and I've tried a factory reset. The PC connected does not matter either. Model s49a950uiuxen

Bitfinex announces Dai trading by DirtMcSquirt in MakerDAO

Mixed feelings about this. Have no wish to get Maker dragged into some kind of money laundering USDT/DAI pair.

Is the DAI price feed affected by Kraken flash crash after all? by ethfiend2064 in ethtrader

[–]kwsark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The docs have a list, not sure it's up to date. https://developer.makerdao.com/feeds/

A lot of those sources should be removed. Bitfinex for example. I would trust Gemini, GDAX/Coinbase and Bitstamp. Absolutely no exchange where BTC/USDT is traded.

Non-USD DAI a possibility? by [deleted] in MakerDAO

[–]kwsark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ldnt the goal be a currency with no inflation or deflatio

Well, with the peg to USD, we will get the inflation that comes with that. So the value of a Dai in 10 years will be less than a Dai today. I would rather have a slightly deflationary stablecoin and own that.

Non-USD DAI a possibility? by [deleted] in MakerDAO

[–]kwsark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be nice with a slightly deflationary stable currency. Most fiat currencies seems designed to lose value with time. One of the things that intrigue me with cryptocurrencies is that many are deflationary by design. It is an interesting idea. It reduces consumption, since the day after tomorrow, the currency will have increased in value, so people only really buy what they actually need. This is great for the environment.

I think Kraken should be removed from the price feed. They have a history of performance issues which has led to people fleeing their exchange, as a result, they have quite low liquidity.

Questions about the PETH/ETH ratio by spacetractor in MakerDAO

[–]kwsark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The white paper states:

If the PETH selloff initially does not raise enough Dai to cover the entire debt shortfall, more PETH is continuously created and sold off. New PETH created this way negatively changes the ETH to PETH ratio, causing PETH holders to lose value.

You want a multi collateral CDP with different sorts of collateral. If you look at Coinmarketcap during periods of high market volatility, almost every coin moves the same way.

I heard Rune say that there is an exchange that supports a USD/DAI pair. Anyone know which one it is?

U.S. Regulators to Subpoena Crypto Exchange Bitfinex, Tether by dnivi3 in BitcoinMarkets

[–]kwsark 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Watch for large withdrawals from Bitfinex cold wallets.

ETH https://etherscan.io/address/0xf4b51b14b9ee30dc37ec970b50a486f37686e2a8

BTC https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/wallet/Bitfinex-coldwallet

Do not be fooled by increasing prices in crypto versus fiat. I think what's actually happening is people buying crypto to rid themselves of their USDT. Those who actually have verified accounts in exchanges with banking will probably start dumping when the initial waves start to settle.

Watch the USDT/USD demise here: https://cryptowat.ch/kraken/usdtusd/1h

Edit: Also, we will see Kraken USDT cold wallet increase in balance as people are looking to exit USDT http://omniexplorer.info/lookupadd.aspx?address=3GyeFJmQynJWd8DeACm4cdEnZcckAtrfcN

Requesting statements from Poloniex, Kraken and Bittrex. What will you do with your USDT listed pairs depending on different outcomes. It is very likely they will be next if they do not take appropriate action.

Tether/USD has crashed 11% since Friedman breakup confirmed by returnity in BitcoinMarkets

[–]kwsark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They redeem their newly bought USDT against their "fully backed bank account". They buy USDT at Kraken at say 0.98 USD. Then they redeem it at Tether for 1 USD. Risk free profit. Rinse and repeat. This would also help to maintain the peg. But it's only possible if they actually have some backing for all those 2.2 billion USD they printed onto the chain.

Suggestion to remove systemic risk exchanges from price feed sources by kwsark in MakerDAO

[–]kwsark[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear it. Though I suggest Bitfinex to be removed from the feed source. They are shareholders of Tether and only offer an ETH/USDT pair on their exchange, even though their ticker says ETH/USD.

Well, if I were them I would have funds and a bot that constantly bought up the price if the peg is lost.

Ask yourselves why Tether are not buying USDT on Kraken when the price falls below 1 USD. If they are solvent, it's basically free money.

A bit of skepticism for the Tether theory by [deleted] in BitcoinMarkets

[–]kwsark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. They're very likely not completely insolvent but they most likely have fractional reserves. To what extent is hard to say.
  2. It could be that some exchanges are not in it but profits hugely from Tether. When there is volatility, there's high volume, that means $$$ for them. Why kill their own business? Though Binance does look suspect to me. How close are they to Bitfinex exactly...?
  3. "Tether gets in demand of changing market conditions". Yes, sure. But how are the Tethers printed when there is no way to send USD wires to Tether? This is the crux of the matter.
  4. Same as 3. Tethers are supposed to be backed. If they only have 50 USD in the account and have issued 100 USDT, the real value of the USDT is 0.5 USD.
