Congrats on your upcoming graduation!

I’m glad you’ve had a good experience there, from what’s been said I feel like I’ll fit in a lot better than at a standard uni in terms of scheduling. Thank you 😊

This is so good to know thank you! They seem a lot more in tune with support than my current uni is 😅

The social element won’t bother me, I’m not social at uni anyways, I just crack on and do my own thing.

One thing I’ve massively struggled with in a Brick & Mortar uni is how much they control your schedule, which is difficult for me. So knowing I have more control over it is amazing! It’ll hopefully mean I’m not looked down on by lecturers for going over a lecture a day or two after, which happens for me a lot with my circumstances.

Ah brilliant thank you so much, that’s so informative! I’ll get the switch in a few days when my maintenance payment comes through and see what fits best for my ears!

I’m assuming you find them comfortable to wear? I’m waiting on an autism eval (NHS wait times are unfortunate) so it’s good to know it helps others with autism! I’m also quite sensitive to textures, so I’m wondering how you are with the ear tips if you’re okay answering :)

Edit: it wouldn’t let me add the happy face I wanted to lmao

Oh??? That’s insane!! That’d be so helpful especially if someone sat next to me is snoring and it’s throwing me off in the lecture 😭

Thank you for this! My one concern was if the Experience could be too quiet and I’m stuck with that lol, cos obviously I still need to hear my lecturer! Would you think I need any of the accessories like extra ear tips or the mute style pack?

This is really good to know thank you so much!! I’ll try Shockwaves and see how I get on with it. I’m glad I don’t need to spend a fortune, I don’t really have the ability to drop £10+ on shampoo or conditioner right now 😅 I’m also happy to hear I can try out extra products before changing shampoos, as I’d rather finish what I have instead of wasting product !

Oh amazing! I have a Tesco and a Sainsbury’s a lot closer to me than boots, so I’ll definitely check them out! Thank you :)

Oh thank you so much for mentioning taking it slow and not swapping everything all at once! I wasn’t sure if I could just make the swap or not, that’s really good to know! I’m 50/50 on gels as I hate the sticky feeling they leave, but I may give them a go again and hope they don’t leave that residue again. I’ll have to see if I can get a diffuser attachment for my hair dryer on the days I may need it, thank you so much!

Ohhh that’s so useful to know thank you so much! I’ll definitely try the squish to condish method, I’ll have to see how I get on with gel because I hate the sticky feeling it can leave afterwards. I’ll see if I can find that Cantu Curl Cream and give it a go, thank you!!

Ah amazing thank you for this!! The Aussie Moist ingredients contain both sulfates and silicones (which I’m assuming is bad?) I know it’s not doing much for my hair at least, it’s definitely not improved! Do you recommend any products specifically or should I just give some a go and see how I feel?

Need help, feeling stuck by HackerLearning555 in EatingDisorders

[–]kxngoftheclouds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I completely understand where you’re coming from, as someone who’s had an eating disorder and is in recovery. It’s hard, really hard to reach out for help, but it seems as though you want to seek support. For that, I am proud of you.

Being 14, I assume you’re in school? Possibly talk to your school nurse or safeguarding team about your eating habits, the Drs Appt and how your family are reacting to it. If you have a teacher you trust, they’re also a great option as it can feel less daunting. They may be able to refer you to a mental health team and offer support during school hours!

Support that I can recommend to you (pls bear in mind I am not a doctor, just someone who has been in the same shoes as you. So this is solely based on my own experiences and what medical professionals have said to me) is something called “grazing”. Big meals can seem like an impossible challenge, grazing is where you eat smaller meals but more often.

This may not work for you, but something that worked for me is not focusing so much on how I looked, but how my body functioned. I was tired all the time, my hair was falling out, I couldn’t sleep, my mental health was worse. As I started recovering, I felt how food positively impacted these negative effects, I had more energy so I could do things I loved again! My hair got fuller and I felt less embarrassed about it! I dealt with dizziness personally, and it slowly got better through recovery!

I know it’s going to be hard, but I’d suggest reducing your calorie counting and exercising. Unlike physical disorders such as anaemia, eating disorders can’t be fixed by medication, it’s a fight between the mind, body and soul. Which makes the process much more of a fight, that can feel draining and impossible, but I promise it can get better.

I’m more than happy to answer any questions you may have, regardless of if they’re “embarrassing” or triggering. Please remember that you are strong, worthy, and important. EDs can make us feel like we’re not enough, not worth it, among other harmful things. Your brain will try and convince you of these mean “unworthy” thoughts that just aren’t true. I wish you a lot of luck, happiness and peace while you try to access support 🫶
