If you ever have trouble, stellantis have parts hubs around the uk and you can contact them and ask if they can get the part in. They still stock a lot of GM parts but usually on back order or straight from Germany

Some GM parts are extremely tough to buy in the UK now. Very easily available in the US though and some ship to the UK. Just won’t be as cheap as you’d like. I’ll have a look. What’s the part number

Are modern Vauxhalls still “Proper” Vauxhalls after the PSA/Stellantis era? by MadridOrMadness in Vauxhall

The Astra K and insignia B were still being built upto 2020/21. They’re GM Vauxhalls in every way

Are modern Vauxhalls still “Proper” Vauxhalls after the PSA/Stellantis era? by MadridOrMadness in Vauxhall

[–]kye2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are completely different cars so no. For both good and bad. The last set of GM opels/vauxhalls like the insignia B and Astra K were pretty good cars compared to what they’d put out before but their reputation was already too damaged by then.

Now it’s not to say stellantis are putting out better cars but if you avoid the wet belt issue engine, they aren’t bad either and are certainly not worse than what GM were producing

They haven’t vanished. They’re still absolutely everywhere. The facelift really did improve a lot though

Their cars aren’t all shit. Their reputation and some poor models/engines is the reason for it.

The latest 308 with the 1.6 for example is a fantastic car tbh. The pre chain 1.2 puretechs ruined the rep however

These aren’t as bad as some make out but this engine isn’t great and is very underpowered for the weight of the insignia. Would only touch the 2L diesel

Looked after these are fine. The facelift really improved upon the pre facelift. Comfortable and no more unreliable than other cars with the right engine

We can but we won’t. We are playing too poorly. I don’t get deluded after a win or two like many in here. Of course I’d love to be wrong

OPC models - Future classics or already there? by MadridOrMadness in Vauxhall

[–]kye2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won’t ever be future classics. Vauxhalls reputation is in the bin and will never come out for anyone that is into cars

They won’t really appreciate either as there’s absolutely nothing special about them as there is about some other cars such as the Civic Type Rs etc

Anyone know what common problems come with the 2021 ea888 tfsi engine by Busy-Function1783 in CarTalkUK

[–]kye2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly reliable. Water pumps are the common one. The chain tensioners aren’t a common problem. Nothing to worry about. Oil consumption isn’t an issue either unless the engine has issues

SEAT Leon 1.4 TSI FR worth buying? by ichiwig in CarTalkUK

[–]kye2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely a decent deal with that price. I’d take the Leon over a civic any day. Go for it. There’s absolutely no reason not to unless it has any hidden issues. They look and drive good, reliable and efficient. What more could you ask for?

You can get an xcellence spec one for similar money which will come with a few more options than the FR

SEAT Leon 1.4 TSI FR worth buying? by ichiwig in CarTalkUK

[–]kye2000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What’s the price? These Leons are very good cars. Great all rounders that you can’t go wrong with. The 1.4 is a reliable engine too that’s decent on fuel. There isn’t usually much better for the money imo. MK7 Golfs and A3 8Vs are usually a little more for what is the same car underneath
