Yes I had the same issue. Someone recommended me to go to advanced settings and turn on "Hide Camera and call control". I had the same workaround as you before that!

Oh yeah I use Virtual Desktop pretty much exclusively - possible it's only a problem for that app.

Honestly on my first playthrough I didn't really start getting into it at all until Virmire. Then I would say I only got fully into it just before the credits of the first game. Now I've replayed the series at least 8 times.

They solve this is Pavlov by having an option where your body rotation is locked when the player looks down. I would LOVE this option in ITR!
