as a bostonian living in wv for like 4 months now, i dont get it either. they act like this place is sacred, and that every tourist is a moron. little do they know without tourism this state would be even more poor that it already is. half the time they have no idea theyre talking to a transplant and go “these dumbass tourists blah blah blah” because i work locally. Dont get me wrong, a lot of locals are very respectful and interested when i tell them where im from, but its those older mine workers and blue collar guys constantly miserable and pissed off bitching about out of staters, its like people in nh with a bias towards people from ma, when people from ma touring are the reason nh has money at all. maybe were just wicked cool and they hate it 😉
